Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG – How to beat the Oceanid Tavern Challenge guide
To complete The Oceanid’s Concern or the Oceanid Tavern Challenge in Genshin Impact‘s Genius Invokation TCG, you’ll want to make use of the ideal decks/team comps. The starter cards (i.e., Kaeya, Sucrose, and Diluc) would do, though I did change a few things when I went with Kaeya, Ayaka, and Fischl. The important thing here is that you’ve got elements that can trigger reactions when combined with Hydro (i.e., Pyro for Vaporize, Cryo for Frozen, or Electro for Superconduct). This is because the boss has a whopping 30 HP, so you’ll need all the extra DPS you can dish out.
The boss has two abilities that you’ll want to be wary of:
-
- Oceanid Mimics – Mimics are summon cards that remain on the board for a couple of turns, and they also attack your characters.
- Tide and Torrent – The boss’ burst deals only a bit of damage, but it gains a bonus depending on how many friendly summons exist when it’s cast. If you’re unlucky, your characters could get KO’d instantly.
Note: Support cards like Send Off and Guardian’s Oath do remove summons from the playing field, but they can be costly, too. You’ll have to weigh your options if you want to use them, or just spend the dice on attacks/card activations. In my opinion, it’s better to just tank the hits and burst down your foe rather than worrying about the summons.
In any case, assuming you’re using Kaeya, you’ll want to pop a couple of elemental skills, followed by his burst. From there, you’ll swap to your other teammates, preferably with the use of When the Crane Returned, Leave it to Me, Changing Shifts, and other similar utility effects. Doing so causes Kaeya’s burst to damage the boss whenever you swap. Moreover, assuming your other teammate has an element that reacts to Cryo/Hydro, your target will suffer extra damage.
With a bit of luck, you should be able to complete the Oceanid Tavern Challenge in Genshin Impact‘s Genius Invokation TCG. Your reward, the Oceanid card, has the following effects:
- Normal Attack: Surge (1 Hydro/2 any) – Deals +1 Hydro damage.
- Skill: Oceanid Mimic Summoning (3 Hydro) – Summons a random type of Mimic; prioritizes summoning a different type whenever it’s used.
- Skill: The Myriad Wilds (5 Hydro) – Randomly summons two Mimics; prioritizes summoning a different type whenever it’s used.
- Burst: Tide and Torrent (3 Hydro/3 Energy) – Deals +2 Hydro damage; additional +2 damage for every friendly summon that’s active.
Apart from emerging victorious and winning in less than five rounds, you’ll also want to achieve success with less than two of your characters getting KO’d. This nets extra cards like Streaming Surge (4 Hydro/3 Energy), which can only be used by the Oceanid if she’s the active character:
- Immediately use Tide and Torrent once.
- +1 usage for all summons.
