Genshin Impact: The Golden Apple Archipelago – Using the Waverider and lighting the beacons
Once your gang reaches the first island, you’ll be made aware of the new features in Genshin Impact‘s Midsummer Island Adventure update.
First, the Golden Apple Archipelago itself is shrouded in mists. Your goal is to use a boat called the Waverider to tag the small beacons (buoys) that light the way.
The Waverider has the following commands:
- Left-click – Fires a regular projectile.
- “E” skill – Fires a stronger projectile that has a lengthy cooldown.
- Shift or right-click – Gains a burst of speed.
- Space (hold) – Allows you to jump out of the Waverider so you can traverse islands or structures.
While following the beacons and going to new islands, be on the lookout for Waverider spawn points and Echoing Conches. The spawn points allow you to pop a new boat (in case it’s gotten damaged or the original one is further away). Meanwhile, the Echoing Conches are collectibles that let you unlock Barbara’s swimsuit as part of the Echoing Tales event. We’ll discuss the Echoing Conches in a separate guide.
Likewise, some islands tend to have treasure chests. These might require you to kill enemies or activate elemental totems.
Eventually, you’ll be able to interact with all three fast travel points that’ll clear out the fog. So far, so good. Jean and Barbara are already ready for the summer and they want to go swimming. But, of course, Klee still needs your help.
There’s a challenge that’s available today called “Make Cannon, Make Ready, Fire” that nets you a few rewards. There’s also the event shop that gives you Dodoco Tales which is a fairly decent weapon for Klee. We’ll talk about these items in the next section of our guide.
