Genshin Impact How To Defeat Maguu Kenki Boss Guide Challenges Marionette Core Phantom Attack Mask Attack

Genshin Impact: Maguu Kenki boss guide — Marionette Core and challenges

Hito-kenki Maguu-sai.

The Maguu Kenki is an elite boss that you’ll face now that Act 3 of the Midsummer Island Adventure event is live. The first encounter is part of the quest once you meet up with Razor. From that point onwards, you’ll be able to battle it to receive additional rewards and complete challenges. Here’s our Genshin Impact guide to help you defeat the Maguu Kenki boss so you can obtain materials such as the Marionette Core.

Genshin Impact: Maguu Kenki boss guide – Challenges and farming the Marionette Core

The Maguu Kenki boss in Genshin Impact is a robotic construct from Inazuma. It has several devastating attacks, including an ability that lets it parry ranged shots. Moreover, it can split into two, spawning a phantom version of itself that also deals damage.

Likewise, if you open the Midsummer Island Adventure event panel, you’ll notice that there are new challenge tasks involving the Maguu Kenki:

  • Defeat the Maguu Kenki 1/2/3 times.
  • Defeat the Maguu Kenki without being hit by its phantom’s attacks, mask’s attacks, and mask parry.

Note: The tasks related to simply defeating the boss provides primogems and gold. Meanwhile, those that require you to avoid certain attack types reward hero’s wit and gold.

For the phantom attacks, the Maguu Kenki regularly summons a spectral version of itself that will usually charge ahead. Also, the main construct does a massive AoE explosion, though I’m not sure if this counts as a phantasmal attack as well.

As for the mask attacks, the Maguu Kenki tends to change into a guard stance while combining the two halves of the mask. The mask will then blast forward to hit anything in its path.

Lastly, there’s the mask parry ability. This blocks most ranged shots, though I have seen the Cryo bloom from Ganyu’s charged shots land a few hits.

When the Maguu Kenki’s mask parries a ranged attack, it’ll also cause a shockwave at the area in front of it. At best, you can simply fight the boss at close range so you don’t end up triggering this counter.

Defeating the Maguu Kenki yields rewards such as gemstones (i.e., Shivada Jade and Vayuda Turquoise), and the Marionette Core. The Marionette Core is a character ascension material, and we know that Kaedehara Kazuha uses this item.

Kazuha won’t be available until Klee’s wish banner ends on June 29, so now would be a good time to start farming (you’ll need 46x Marionette Cores to boost Kazuha to level 90). Don’t forget that you also need to farm for Sea Ganoderma.
