Your small group of characters in Genshin Impact is still stuck in the underground realm of The Chasm. However, they soon realize that something is amiss, as they seem to be in a strange realm where nothing makes sense. Here’s our Genshin Impact Lightshaper puzzle guide to help you with the City of Hidden Runes domain in the Perilous Trail event.

Genshin Impact Lightshaper puzzle guide (Perilous Trail event)
Upon entering the domain, you’ll notice a large pedestal in the center of the platform. You can pass through any portal here to reach any of the sections of the zone. Once there, you’ll spot several symbols on the floor.
If you step on the correct symbol, it’ll light up. However, if you step on the wrong one, you’ll take a bit of damage (nothing too serious). Once you do see a symbol that’s lit, check the remaining section for three other matching symbols. This will cause mobs to spawn (i.e., Geovishaps, Geo Mitachurls, and Stonehide Lawachurls).
This begins the Lightshaper puzzle in Genshin Impact. The idea is fairly straightforward:
- There are two pedestals that you can interact with. Each has two beams of light that can be moved and rotated.
- Move/rotate the beams so they shine on all four symbols on the floor.
- Take note of the gaps so that you’re rotating the correct set.
- Do the same thing for the other pedestal.
You’ll want to do this for all sections in the domain. After you’re finished, a larger beam will power up the central area. Take a look at the “ceiling” to see where it’s connected to. Then, use the teleporters at the sides to move to that location (keep your eyes peeled because the floors rotate).
When you’re done, you’ll have a chat with your pals. This will, eventually, lead to the Fantastic Compass puzzle.
