Genshin Impact Layla guide – Best team comps
Let’s discuss Layla’s best team comps and squadmates in Genshin Impact.
Permafreeze and Morgana
A permafreeze or Morgana variant tends to be the best team comp for Layla in Genshin Impact. The old Morgana comp – i.e., Mona, Ganyu, Diona, and an Anemo character – has numerous options now depending on the characters you’ve obtained. The setup still follows the same concept:
- Layla – Layla acts as the Cryo support.
- Hydro and Cryo – The other two slots are for a Hydro and a Cryo character. Examples include Mona and Kokomi as Hydro options, and Ganyu or Ayaka as Cryo options. These fighters allow you to permafreeze most foes. Likewise, you’ll receive bonus crit rate due to the Cryo Resonance effect.
- Anemo – The usual trio of Venti, Kazuha, and Sucrose remain top picks here.
- Anemo pullers can group up enemies. This helps Layla since her projectiles are only single-target, but splash damage can occur as long as mobs are fairly close enough to each other.
- Moreover, the resistance shred from the 4-piece Viridescent Venerer artifact set is an amazing way to debilitate your foes.
Other options
I would advise not using Layla in most other comps (i.e., Mono Cryo, Melt, or Dendro). Mono Cryo is fine, though you do need Shenhe to maximize the damage. However, because Layla can’t heal, the support slot tends to be taken by someone like Diona, who’s got both healing and shielding capabilities. As mentioned in the previous section, Diona outshines Layla in encounters where Corrosion is in effect or if your Layla’s HP isn’t stacked enough that her shield breaks easily.
As for Dendro, Cryo doesn’t react to that element, so it’s next to useless. It might work if, say, you’re trying a Hyperbloom comp with the extra freezing effect, though it’s a bit unwieldy at times.
In any case, let’s talk about the best weapons and artifacts for her in the next part of our Genshin Impact Layla guide series.
