Genshin Impact: Gurabad’s Ruin puzzle guide

I don't like sand.

Gurabad’s Ruin is a location in Genshin Impact. You’ll visit it as part of Dirge of Bilqis – Wisdom Has Built Her House. This temple/pyramid holds many secrets, and you’ll need to clear the area to progress further. Here’s our Genshin Impact Gurabad’s Ruin puzzle guide to help you with the objectives that are part of the Dirge of Bilqis.

Genshin Impact Gurabad’s Ruin puzzle guide (Dirge of Bilqis)

You’ll enter Gurabad’s Ruin in Genshin Impact after your initial tasks in the Dirge of Bilqis quest. Jeht’s pal, Azariq, will tell you about the devices in the temple. Basically, the objects called Ruin Mechanisms (i.e., large stone pylons) emit a blue glow which. Hitting them will cause the beam to rotate, removing piles of sand in an area. This lets you spot hidden stuff like switches and levers.

The first wing that’s accessible has rather simple tasks since, again, all you need to worry about are the mechanisms and sand piles. Here are some examples:

  • In the small room, flip the lever to open the wall grate. Then, hit the mechanism until the beam hits the crystal behind the wall.
  • In the large room, the left-hand side has a mechanism that needs to face the wall so you can press the switch. The right-hand side, meanwhile, has a lever and a grate, and the beam has to pass through the grate. These activate the switch at the back, opening the pathway beyond.
  • There’s also a torch puzzle here, though the torches themselves are initially immaterial. Check the corner near the plate for a crystal, then form the device on the plate. Run around to turn the torches solid and hit them with Pyro.
  • In the next large chamber, you just need to kill the Pyro Turkeys to activate the switch below.
  • And, in the last area, simply follow the path to the upper exit. There’s a Weathered Obelisk puzzle here, and the solution is behind a nook where the Ruin Sentry is patrolling. Hit the small stones so the symbols match to spawn a chest.

Once you’re done with the first section, you’ll be back in the main area of Gurabad’s Ruin in Genshin Impact. Another Ruin Mechanism is active, so just smack that to reveal the switch for the next door. The remaining sections are fairly straightforward, too, as some rooms tend to be similar:

  • One key difference is that devices can be moved now. As such, you’ll want to interact with them so that they move to the correct location before you hit/rotate the beam.
  • Don’t forget that there might be levers that either cause walls to disappear or grates to open so the beams can pass through.

Once you’ve activated all four Ruin Mechanisms, make sure that the beams are facing the center. Interact with the pyramid-like structure and it will hover in mid-air. You can open a chest down below.

Up next, Jeht and Azariq will tell you that there’s a rumbling noise outside. Leave Gurabad’s Ruin and check the exterior of Safhe Shatranj. You’ll have to head to Liloupar’s Cell now.
