Genshin Impact Fabulous Fungus Frenzy event guide – Domain challenges, controlling your squad, and the tournament

Recommended Videos

Let’s talk about the combat-centric portions of Genshin Impact‘s Fabulous Fungus Frenzy event. You’ll select the mushroom minions that will fight against other opponents.

Domain challenges: Coordinated Assaults and Zone Defense

These are challenges that take place in a domain called the Nilotpala Cup Special Training Grounds, which is located to the west of Port Ormos. Once you enter, you’ll notice a couple of activities.

  • Coordinated Assault has multiple enemies that appear in waves. You’ll mostly go on the offensive here. To get a high enough score, make sure you defeat all enemies within the allotted time.
  • Zone Defense has you defending a ley line altar in the center, preventing it from taking too much damage. To get a high enough score, try to keep the altar above 60% HP.

Note: You can view the Prepare for Tournament -> Special Training screen to check your progress and rewards.

Controlling your minions and unleashing skills

Each minion in Genshin Impact‘s Fabulous Fungus Frenzy event has a particular element, and they’ll also attack automatically. However, if you press their respective key (i.e., 1 to 4), you can make them use their special skill. Examples include the Floating Hydro Fungus’ AoE heal, the Stretchy Geo Fungus’ ground smash, and the Whirling Pyro Fungus’ flame spread.

Here are some additional tidbits:

  • Your “pets” only have a limited number of skill uses during a fight (i.e., they share this limit as symbolized by the small icons above their portraits). However, you can pick up the golden objects known as Plauditory Protections. These will provide you with extra skill activations.
  • You can hold “E” to target a specific enemy. This will cause all fungi to attack that creature.
  • Take note of each mushroom’s element, since you can still trigger reactions. Still, the procs can be a bit iffy since your team members all attack automatically.
  • Watch out for enemies that have shields. Make sure you’re bringing a combatant that can remove/shred their defenses.
  • If only one mob is left and another wave is about to spawn, try not to waste your skills. You can still collect Plauditory Protections so you’ve got enough for the next wave.

The tournament

As mentioned earlier, the Nilotpala tournament is more story-based. You’re expected to progress further in the event quest chain so that additional opponents become available.

Likewise, the fights here are somewhat different in that you’re going up against other trainers. Your fungi pals aren’t battling random mobs from Teyvat, but other mushrooms with their respective abilities.

In any case, your first foe is an NPC by the name of Ajilenakh Dash. She’s quite a pushover, so just try to see how well your team performs. A bit later, you’ll face Souka, one of Yae Miko’s assistants. As for the remaining bouts, well, we won’t spoil them here.
