Genshin Impact Fabulous Fungus Frenzy event guide – Meeting characters and catching mushrooms

Let’s talk about the beginning stages of Genshin Impact‘s Fabulous Fungus Frenzy event.

Head to a couple of marked locations and you’ll meet an NPC named Haniyyah. You’ll then receive an item called the Wisdom Orb. Equip it from your gadgets menu and go to the spot where you’re supposed to catch mushrooms.

If you press the “Z” key, the Wisdom Orb’s capture action will replace your elemental skill button. Now, approach the required mobs and press “E” to throw a net. This will cause them to run away, but you can use elemental abilities. Electro increases the mob’s movement speed and the gadget’s capture speed. Pyro, meanwhile, does the opposite. Still, we found that it’s viable to simply throw the net a couple of times to capture your targets.

Note: As you progress further, new zones and mushrooms will become available. You can track them by going to the Prepare for Tournament -> Fungus Capture screen. The mechanics should remain the same, so you don’t need to worry.

After catching your first two mushrooms, you’ll meet newcomer Layla, who does seem a bit sleepy. Next, you’ll travel to Port Ormos and encounter Yae Miko. It seems there’s a tournament going on where people do battle with their, uh, pets.

Around this time, you’re informed of the Coruscating Potential mechanic. Basically, the mushrooms you’ve found will only gain powerful abilities if you manage to boost them via a minigame.

After this, it’s time to ready yourself for combat. There are a couple of these activities to take note of:

• Special Training has challenges where you face other mobs.
• Championship Progress is where your team will duke it out against other tournament participants (which is more story-based since you need to advance further in the quest).
