Genshin Impact: Best Hu Tao team comps

Spooking enemies as a team.

Genshin Impact has a great collection of characters to pull from and use in your teams. Hu Tao is a fiery-spirited character with a devilish streak. With the power of the ghosts, Hu Tao saps some of her own HP to deal immense damage. Hu Tao is about spooking foes, infusing her attacks with Pyro energy, while her Elemental Burst is a nuke that refills some of her HP. As such, Hu Tao is a main DPS character who will stay on-field and deal most of the damage on a team. Here’s our guide on some of the best team comps for Hu Tao in Genshin Impact.

Hu Tao is a 5-star character and can be pulled on the Character Event Wish banner as a featured character. Hu Tao is not available to summon unless she is a featured character, so pay close attention to upcoming announcements on release dates for her banner. Be sure to save your Primogems for Hu Tao if you don’t have her yet, especially if you want to rain down some fear on the enemies. To best take advantage of Hu Tao’s strengths in Genshin Impact, consider these team comps.

Hu Tao is an on-field main DPS character and has a unique feast or famine playstyle. When you use her Elemental Skill, she saps some of her own HP and infuses her Normal Attacks and Charged Attacks with a Pyro infusion, making her attacks deal Pyro damage. With high multipliers, this allows her to deal high single-target damage against enemies when paired with units that complement her play style. Here are some of Hu Tao’s best teams in Genshin Impact:

  • Hu Tao/Zhongli/Xingqiu/Yelan: This is the most popular Hu Tao formation and the team you’ll see most when others are using Hu Tao. Because of how Hu Tao plays, Zhongli or a shielder that can protect her as she drains her own HP will help her stay alive. Xingqiu and Yelan are off-field Hydro DPS characters, allowing Hu Tao to trigger Hydro attacks whenever she Normal Attacks. This will create the Vaporize reaction, which deals very high damage against enemies.
  • If you do not have both Xingqiu and Yelan (you should have one or the other to use with Hu Tao), there are a number of substitutes you can put in place. Albedo has a few benefits: he has strong off-field damage with his Elemental Skill, and two Geo characters on one team will increase the strength of shields by 15%. On top of that, any character protected by a shield (in this case, Hu Tao), will deal 15% more damage. Amber is a popular niche pick when paired with the Elegy of the End weapon, as she can trigger the weapon’s passive frequently as well as provide damage buffs when wearing the Noblesse Oblige set. Of course, bringing an Anemo unit like Kazuha or Sucrose will also help with team damage, crowd control, and EM buffs for Hu Tao.
