Battlefront: Misty Dungeon – The basics
Let’s talk about the basic concepts of the Battlefront: Misty Dungeon event in Genshin Impact.
Available characters
There are 10 characters in the selection pool: Keqing, Mona, Albedo, Barbara, Diona, Sucrose, Noelle, Beidou, Xinyan, and Amber. You’re free to mix and match to find an optimal setup for your team, just remember that the usual elemental resonances (i.e., bonus effects when you have two or more of a particular element) won’t be active in the dungeon.
Likewise, you may inspect the characters. In my case, all of the ones that are available are at level 80 already, including those that I’ve barely leveled up.
Characters also have decent weapons and maxed-out artifacts. For instance, both Xinyan and Mona have a full Noblesse Oblige set. They’re equipped with the Whiteblind and Favonius Codex respectively. Meanwhile, Albedo has the Festering Desire and a full set of Archaic Petra.
If these characters are already in your roster and you’ve obtained some of their constellations, then they’ll have those unlocked during the activity. If you haven’t obtained them yet, then they’ll simply be at the default constellation rank (i.e., C0).
Note: If you’re not inside the dungeon, only the default constellation level would be shown. Once you’ve started the activity, you’ll see any constellation levels that you’ve unlocked on a particular character (i.e., C6 Barbara as seen in the image below).
The main objective: Activating runes
Your main objective in Genshin Impact‘s Battlefront: Misty Dungeon trials is to activate three runes. These have a rather odd icon that looks like an eye. When you activate the first one upon spawning, you’ll then take out the mobs that appear. Bear in mind that the types of mobs that you’ll fight are dependent on the trial that you select.
After a rune is activated, look at your surroundings and you’ll see a beam of red light. That’s the location of the next rune. Once you’ve interacted with all three, you can use a panel that will open up a crevice that leads to the final encounter for that trial.
The final encounter usually involves yet another bout against a handful of mobs. If you look at each trial’s panel, the topmost enemy tends to be the one that’s spawned in the last room. For example, the Plunging Trial has you fighting several treasure hoarders, an Electro Cicin Mage, and a Fatui Pyro Agent. Meanwhile, the Healing Trial has a couple of Blazing Axe Mitachurls and a Pyro Abyss Mage.
Benedictions and traps
You’ll have 15 minutes to complete each Battlefront: Misty Dungeon run, but there are “benedictions” that can help you along the way. Each trial dungeon has four types of benedictions that you can activate:
- Rejuvenation (yellow teardrop) – Revives all characters and restores their HP.
- Plunder (red sword) – Provides an ATK bonus. Just take note of the icon since runes and the Plunder blessing have a red coloring.
- Godspeed (dark blue wings) – Provides a movement speed bonus.
- Everlasting (light blue clock) – Gain additional time to complete the dungeon.
Similar to runes, activating a benediction spawns hostiles that you need to eliminate before you can obtain a particular blessing. You can tackle several of these encounters in a dungeon.
Moreover, don’t forget that some rooms and passageways do have traps. Examples include laser beams, exploding mines, and automated turrets that shoot projectiles.
The turrets themselves have a particular element, so you’ll need to use a reaction to disable it. For instance, a Cryo weapons system can be disabled with Pyro or Electro.
Anyway, let’s discuss what you can expect in Battlefront: Misty Dungeon’s Plunging Trial in the next section of our Genshin Impact guide.
