Genshin Impact: The best Artifact sets to increase damage

After talking about Artifact sets and the Artifact enhancement process, it’s time to discuss additional tips to help increase your damage in Genshin Impact.

Firstly, I would consider the best-in-slot (BIS) set items for purely elemental damage boosts to be the ones from specific domains, namely the Crimson Witch of Flames (Hidden Palace of Zhou), Thundering Fury (Midsummer Courtyard), and Viridescent Venerer (Valley of Remembrance).

It’s going to be a slog to get a single piece, let alone a complete 4-piece set. However, they’ll become invaluable for your Pyro, Electro, and Anemo characters who have damage-dealing or support roles. These include Diluc (Pyro), Xiangling (Pyro), Fischl (Electro), Keqing (Electro), and Venti (Anemo).

During the mid-game, though, you should be fine with other sets. Here are some examples:

  • Pure DPS characters – Resolution of Sojourner, Berserker, Martial Artist, and Gladiator’s Finale (melee weapon users).
  • Support characters (the ones who’ll provide combo procs and triggers) – Instructor, Exile, and Wanderer’s Troupe.
  • Healers – Maiden Beloved and Instructor.

Note: Even for support characters, the +18% ATK bonus (from the Resolution of Sojourner, Gladiator’s Finale, and Heart of Bravery sets) remains helpful. It requires only two pieces from those sets so you’re free to combine it with a different set’s bonus.

Since I don’t have Diluc yet, my damage-dealers were Xiangling and Fischl:

  • For Xiangling (melee DPS/Pyro), I decided to go with the 2-piece bonuses from the Gladiator’s Finale and Resolution of Sojourner sets. In the image above, you can see the 18% ATK boost stacked twice.
  • Meanwhile, for Fischl (ranged support/Electro), you could go with Instructor if you don’t have Thundering Fury yet.
  • If you have Venti (ranged support/Anemo), the Exile set is great.
  • In my case, I usually open up with Xiangling’s skill followed by Fischl’s. When Overload is triggered, it procs the 4-set bonus as well. This increases the damage of subsequent combo effects via Elemental Mastery for a few seconds.
  • If I’m farming domains or doing the Spiral Abyss dungeon, I prioritize Venti’s elemental burst to gather up all the mobs, followed by Xiangling’s and Fischl’s skills. The Exile set helps Venti recharge his energy and his burst also gives energy to the party.

Regarding the item picks, you’ll notice that I’m still using blues. This is because the higher-rarity Artifacts I have don’t offer the right boons. Either they don’t have ATK or ATK % as the main stat, or I’m missing an additional piece for a set bonus.

Blues will be fine during Genshin Impact’s mid-game. Your goal is to increase your damage via enhancements of the main stat and not from any bonus stat anyway. That’s why you should always take note of the main stat first before the rarity. Lastly, since you need four pieces for the full set bonus, the fifth Artifact can be anything that increases ATK or ATK%.
