Genshin Impact guide: Albedo’s weapons, artifacts, and talents
Albedo’s weapon: Festering Desire or Harbinger of Dawn
Source: Festering Desire comes from The Chalk Prince and the Dragon event and Harbinger of Dawn is a random 3-star drop.
The Festering Desire can be easily obtained via an event. This weapon significantly boosts the user’s elemental skill damage and crit. Since Albedo’s elemental skill, Solar Isotoma, has a short cooldown, you’ll be using it often anyway. Likewise, the weapon has innate bonuses (EXP and damage) while the event is ongoing. Furthermore, the Festering Dragon Marrows from the event’s challenges let you max the weapon’s refinement rank to improve its capabilities.
You may also use the Harbinger of Dawn. Although it’s only a blue/3-star weapon, it provides extra crit damage, as well as crit rate. Bear in mind that the bonus crit rate only applies when Albedo is above 90% health. You’ll want to use his elemental skill to help generate shields, then quickly swap to a different character to avoid taking hits.
Artifact sets: 2x Archaic Petra and 2x Defender’s Will/2x Noblesse Oblige
Sources: These artifact sets come from Abyssal Domains. Archaic Petra comes from the Domain of Guyun and the Noblesse Oblige is from the Clear Pool and Mountain Cavern. Defender’s Will, meanwhile, can drop from the Hidden Palace of Zhou or the new Peak of Vindagnyr domain.
Archaic Petra buffs Albedo’s Geo damage considerably. Noblesse Oblige, meanwhile, improves the damage of his elemental burst, Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide. His burst has a low cooldown and gets charged ridiculously fast, too. However, if you don’t want Noblesse Oblige, you can go with the Defender’s Will 2-piece bonus which adds a whopping 30% DEF. Thing is, Albedo’s elemental skill is amplified by his defense stat, making this spammable ability even deadlier.
Talents priority: Solar Isotoma and Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide
You’ll want to level-up both talents equally (or prioritize the elemental skill). As mentioned earlier, both abilities have high uptime which means you’ll be blasting opponents often.
For the talent leveling materials, you’ve got Ballad books (from the Forsaken Rift domain every Wednesday and Saturday) and scrolls (from hilichurl shamans).
Character ascension materials
- Scrolls – Dropped by hilichurl shamans.
- Prithiva Topaz – Dropped by the Geo Hypostasis elite; purchased from Souvenir Shop; higher-tier versions can be crafted by an alchemist NPC.
- Basalt Pillar – Dropped by the Geo Hypostasis elite.
- Cecilia – You can see the locations marked on Genshin Impact‘s map below:
Genshin Impact: Albedo summary
I found Albedo a great 5-star addition to Genshin Impact‘s roster in spite of some concerns after the Zhongli debacle. Albedo has awesome burst DPS potential thanks to abilities that refresh blindingly fast. Plus, his Tectonic Tide does tremendous damage if a Solar Isotoma flower is already in the field. For his support abilities, his Solar Isotoma has a wide radius, which means easy shield generation. You could even cast it then switch to another character since the effect will linger for several seconds. Moreover, you can stand on the flower it spawns so it hovers, allowing you to do a diving attack.
Lastly, Albedo’s passive has a chance to grant an extra weapon ascension material from crafting. This also applies to 5-star/legendary materials.
