Earlier today, Gabe Newell (or his account, anyway) popped up on Reddit to say he’d be taking part in an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session at 1pm Pacific Time. The post was rather early (around 3 hours and 30 minutes early, on the third day of the third month … just saying,) and, as per their rules, the Reddit mods closed it and left instructions for Newell about making a new post “about half an hour” before he was ready to answer questions.
Since then, 1pm Pacific has come and gone with no sign of Gabe Newell. An update post from Reddit themselves states that “We’ve been constantly monitoring his Reddit account, and the admins have reached out through their contacts at Valve. But unfortunately, after an hour of waiting, we have been unable to confirm anything.”
“It is possible that he intended to answer on a different date (which does occassionally happen sometimes),” it adds, hopefully.
Right now it doesn’t seem as if the AMA is cancelled, just postponed until some indefinite time. Which, when you think about it, is the perfect state of being for an AMA involving Valve’s Gabe Newell.
Maybe this thing was an elaborate joke to begin with? If so, well played.
Update: Word on the street is it will now take place tomorrow at  at 2PM PST.
