Do you yearn for the days of old when you’d get home from school and turn on G4 TV? The channel hosted a suite of shows all about games, from the industry to gaming culture — along with tech shows and reruns of COPS. It was revealed last year that G4 would be returning in some way, although details on what would be included were sparse. However, a tweet yesterday from the revived G4 account revealed that two staple programs, X-Play and Attack of The Show!, are returning soon.
The tweet includes a video with small audio clips from X-Play and Attack of The Show! A screen then flashes with this text: “We heard you. The legends return. Summer 2021. We never stopped playing.”
What will G4 or X-Play look like when they return?
With the return of these two classic programs, G4 seems to be thrusting itself back onto the mainstage. However, it will also need new programming to do that. Since being revealed at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, multiple personalities in the gaming industry have thrown their hat in the ring to be the next host of a show on G4. Professional WWE wrestler Xavier Woods has already confirmed that he would be joining as a new host. Similarly, actress Olivia Munn is in talks to return to the channel. Before becoming an actress, she was part of the Attack of The Show! cast.
During its primetime, G4’s programming offered everything that would usually be found in online gaming outlets and other publications. X-Play, one such show on G4, focused on gaming reviews and was hosted by Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb, along with Blair Herter, Jessica Chobot, Lauren Fielder, and Kristin Adams. The show was also known for its comedy routines and skits.

Attack of The Show! was one of the more general programs on G4. Hosted by Olivia Munn and Kevin Pereira, the show cast an extremely wide net. It included segments on news headlines, science, hardware, the internet, and even relationship advice.
