Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Furry Xbox Controllers

Furry Sonic and Knuckles Xbox controllers are real and kinda weird

Yes, these are official.

We’re just under three weeks away from the premiere of the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie. I’m sure you’ve already seen images of the billboards, and you may even have one plastering your neighborhood. It’s close enough you can almost touch it. But what would it feel like? Well, if it’s anything like the furry Sonic the Hedgehog Xbox controllers revealed today, probably a little creepy. No, you didn’t misread that.

Xbox Global Partnerships has unveiled two new Xbox controllers. One is red for Knuckles, while the other is classic Sonic blue. Both of which are covered in synthetic fur, said to be “reminiscent of the ‘bristly’ texture of hedgehogs in the wild.” Though it sometimes pains me to admit, I am a fan of Sonic and some of the games. However, I don’t think I’m going to partake in furry Sonic the Hedgehog controllers. Not yet, anyhow.

There’s also a custom Xbox Series S console to go alongside. It’s adorned with Sonic and Knuckles art and a golden ring surrounding the large vent. That’s actually really slick, and it offers one of the few non-white Series S choices. Xbox seems to be only giving these away through two sweepstakes, which you can sign up for starting today.

But are they washer safe?

Furry Sonic the Hedgehog controllers aren’t the only strange accessories Sega has introduced in the past. Japanese copies of Rez had an option for a packed-in vibrator, which came with a washable cover. Speaking of, Chris over at our sister-site Destructoid brought up a good point. Won’t these controllers get a little nasty over time? Those who get sweaty hands while playing games may want to consider wearing gloves.

Sonic Frontiers is the next game coming from the troubled franchise, and its heading to PC via Steam maybe this year. I suppose if you want the full tactile experience of beating badniks as a blue hedgehog, these controllers can do the trick. But you should probably only bust them out when others aren’t around.
