Frostpunk: The Board Game is the tabletop adaption of 11 Bit Studio’s society survival game, Frostpunk. Just 54 minutes after its campaign began, Frostpunk: The Board Game was 100% funded on Kickstarter. The initial funding goal for the tabletop game was $234,579 USD. With that comfortably dispatched, the funding is now going towards a series of stretch goals.
“In our wildest dreams we didn’t think that it would happen that fast!” said Jakub Wiśniewski, CEO of Glass Cannon Unplugged. “Frostpunk is a well-known IP, and we can guarantee that the unplugged adaptation will live up to its name with gameplay focused on strategic decisions and grim narration.”
One particularly exciting stretch goal backers can work towards is a one-of-a-kind companion app. The app will allow players scattered across the globe to enjoy multiple copies of the game together in a shared environment.
Come into the cold
The Frostpunk: The Board Game Kickstarter campaign runs until Thursday, October 29. So, you have plenty of time to make a pledge and get access to a bunch of backer benefits. The two pledge options are $88 USD and $147 USD. Both pledges will get you the full core game, the Frostlander expansion, all the game components, and the plastic Generator Cube Tower – which is pre-shaded for Kickstarter backers. The more expensive Deluxe Pledge will also get you over 100 detailed plastic miniatures in over 33 different sculpts.
Wiśniewski concluded by saying, “For us, the campaign launch is just the beginning of the road, but we couldn’t be happier doing it while knowing we produce this game for such an amazing community.”
If you’d like to try your hand at managing the last city on Earth while you wait for the tabletop adaption, you can pick up Frostpunk for PC through Steam. If you missed the initial announcement of Frostpunk: The Board Game, you can check it out in the video below.
