You may recall that Frictional was teasing its next ultra-spooky PC title earlier in the month, but now that project has a (suitably disturbing) name: Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. In addition, Dear Esther developers thechineseroom are helping out with the game.
According to the scant details released so far, the title will be set in 1899 and in the same alternative history universe as Amnesia: The Dark Descent. However, the game won’t be a direct sequel (so the characters from Dark Descent won’t be showing up here).
Plot-wise, a rich industrialist named Oswald Mandus has returned home from a tragic trip to Mexico. He’s beset by fever and keeps dreaming about a terrible machine. As he regains some semblance of consciousness, he hears a machine roar to life.
Freaky stuff.
Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs will be released on PC later this year.
