Forza Horizon 5 getting a trunkload of content in Series 6 update

You're gonna need a trailer for this.

The Forza Horizon 5 content update, Series 6, celebrates the fast and fascinating creations of its community. Officially dubbed as the “Horizon Customs” update, this brings upgrades to both the Horizon Open and EventLab game modes, which are big parts of the Forza Horizon 5 experience.

There’s also a new series of events for Horizon Story coming called Drift Club Mexico. It is spearheaded by the arrival of the new all-electric 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E 1400, in addition to “seven of the world’s coolest drift cars.”

Open roads for all

One big advancement coming to the Horizon Open game mode is Custom Racing. Players can now matchmake with others of equal preferences, allowing different options such as PI class and type of race to be tailored.

For those who frequent Horizon Open in Forza Horizon 5, you’ll be happy to know that this mode will now have its own progression system. Said system applies to Open Racing, Drifting, and Playground Games events, all in addition to the new Custom Racing mode. The Eliminator is not a part of this roster. It will now occupy a new spot in the “Online” tab of the game’s pause menu, rather than continuing to be a part of Horizon Open. With Horizon Open now having its own progress path, XP earned throughout your playtime will now count towards your overall player level count and also a new sperate player level count exclusively for Horizon Open.

In addition to all of these additions and changes, Horizon Open players will also now earn “Badges” as a new kind of reward. These are awarded as special challenges are completed. They also come in addition to leveling up in Horizon Open as just previously mentioned. Badges earned will show up alongside a player’s Gamertag as a colorful icon. They’re also visible to players as they you pass them along in Horizon Life Free Roam sessions, in the Leaderboards (which Horizon Open will also now have its own separate board for), and in race standings. These new Badges will also now occupy their own space in the Campaign tab.

For the real engineers of Forza Horizon 5 out there, the upgrades coming to EventLab will allow for even more creativity and freedom for new ideas. Playground Games has dropped in new original props for the Blueprint Builder, including “concrete and plaster walls…dirt and asphalt platforms…and neon shipping containers,” just to name a few.

Crank up the creativity

EventLab creations will also now be able to get even wilder thanks to the new Scale Gravity option. It allows an event engineer to either multiply or subtract the effects of gravity. Of course, all new collectibles and unlocks will also be a part of the Series 6 update, including new apparel, car horns, and more. But, the sweetest unlockable will certainly be the four new vehicles that will be rolled out gradually as part of the various Horizon Playlists events.

These include the 2021 McLaren 765LT Coupe, 2018 ATS GT, 2014 McLaren 650S Spider, and 2012 Ascari KZ1R. Car Pass customers will gain access to not only those four cars, but also exclusive access to the 2021 McLaren 620R, 2021 MINI John Cooper Works GP, 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster and 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado.

More under the hood

In addition to all of these exciting new bits of content, the core game of Forza Horizon 5 is also being updated to a new version. This new technical update will bring “stability and performance improvements,” “improved save flow for Weekly Forzathon to reduce chances of any progression loss,” a crash fix when raytracing is enabled in Forzavista, among many others fixes. The full patch list is available from the official Forza Support website.

Both the new patch and Series Update 6 for Forza Horizon 5 will drop on March 29.
