Enhancements for drag racing in Forza Horizon 5 coming soon according to potential leak

Hyping up the hot rods.

Drag racing is nothing new to the Forza Horizon series. That said, it appears this facet of racing will be the focus of a forthcoming update for Forza Horizon 5 as revealed by files uncovered by dataminers. According to a tweet from @AR12Gaming, a racing-focused media team, dataminers have uncovered what appears to be a new Horizon Story dedicated to drag racing in Forza Horizon 5.

There was a lot uncovered. Miners have allegedly discovered that this drag racing update will apparently give players the ability to launch their cars manually at the start of the strip (along with launch control), three additional drag strips on the Forza Horizon 5 map, and some new drag-focused cars including the Camaro Pro Stock, Huracan STO, and Rimac Nevera.

Forza Horizon 5 may host some drag racing events

Forza Horizon 5 players have been clamoring for some new gameplay features for a little while now, so a drag racing update should satiate a good few fans. It may very well also spur on even more multiplayer/social challenges both officially across servers and unofficially between friends.

Forza Horizon 5 has its next big expansion set to release in the next few months, following the release of well-received Hot Wheels expansion that launched back in 2022. Thus, this drag racing update would not be a part of that expansion; this will likely be part of a major game update that will grant all players access to the new content for free.

There’s still no word from developer Playground Games as to exactly what that aforementioned second big expansion even is yet. New info is expected to arrive within the next few weeks. Similarly, seeing that this apparent info on the drag racing update is still nestled away in the game’s files, a proper reveal during a Forza Monthly livestream should also be expected soon.
