How Do I Know if I’m Eligible for the Island Creator Program?

Eligibility for the Island Creator Program is determined by several factors. Below we go over all of the requirements.

All Eligibility Requirements

  • Your Epic account must be at least 30 days old.
  • You must have spent time editing in Fortnite Creative, Unreal Editor for Fortnite, or Unreal Engine for at least 7 of the last 30 days.
    • Alternatively, you should have spent and redeemed at least $75 in the last 90 days on Fortnite in-game products (gift cards are not included in this threshold).
  • You must be capable of accepting the Engagement Program Payout Terms either as an individual or on behalf of a legal entity.
  • You currently have to be 18 or older
  • You should abide by the creator content guidelines.
    • If you’ve been banned already or in disciplinary action, that will be taken into account
  • You must be able to receive engagement payouts using Epic’s payment platform, Hyperwallet.

If you were already part of the Support-A-Creator program as of March 22, 2023, you’re automatically eligible for engagement payouts.

Can I Join the Fortnite Island Creator Program if I’m Under 18?

Currently, engagement payouts are only available to those who are 18 and older. However, Epic Games plans on expanding the program to younger creators in the future.

How Does Pay Work for the Island Creator Program?

You will receive engagement payouts each month for creating islands in Fortnite. Each island will provide its own revenue. Engagement payouts are calculated based on Fortnite’s net revenue, which includes in-game purchases and subscriptions. V-Bucks packs, real-money transactions, Fortnite Crew subscriptions, and more all contribute to the pay that’s given.

When Do I Get Paid for My Islands in Fortnite?

Engagement payouts are made 30 days after the close of the month. That means you’ll get your earnings about a month after the month ends.

Earnings will be paid out if you reach $100 USD within a 12-month period. The $100 threshold includes earnings from both Support-A-Creator and engagement payouts if you’re enrolled in both. After 12 months, your balance will reset to zero, and a new 12-month period will begin. Losing money doesn’t sound so good, but we’ll see how it works in the future.

How much do I get in the Fortnite Island Creator Program?

You get 40% of the net profit. After Epic Games deducts third-party platform fees and markups, the calculation takes into account the net revenue Epic Games received. 40% of the monthly net revenue goes to eligible island publishers, and 60% goes to Fortnite.
