When we played the pre-release version of Forced there was bound to be a few issues, that’s expected. Both Tim and I tried to hook up for a co-op game but we ended up packing it in after numerous attempts.
It appears that the connection issues are still persisting as players of BetaDwarf’s RPG puzzler are still struggling with these problems today following the game’s launch.
Currently there’s a message that pops up asking players to read a post on the Steam community boards which reads:
We’re currently hard at work improving the way we’re integrated with steam. This should solve the connectivity issues for the people have problems at the moment.
Sorry for the troubles, we hope you’ll be patient with us.
If you’re having problems you can try opening the 35001 and 50005 ports, it may work for you, although it hasn’t worked for everyone. The devs are also encouraging players to either use Hamachi or Tunngle which we have to assume is their temporary workaround so gamers can at least start playing with their buddies.
It’s not a great start for what looks like a promising co-op game and it’s a bit disheartening considering how long the early access has been running. It appears the problem persists due to firewall issues but some players have opened up the ports and even removed any firewall protection only to find it still doesn’t work.
Our advice is to keep an eye on the Steam forums for an update from the team, hopefully they can get it resolved quickly.
