During the Xbox and Bethesda Games showcase today, another gameplay trailer for Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn was shown off, highlighting a boss battle, more abilities, and large sprawling levels. Additionally, the trailer provided a release window for early 2023.
When Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn first debuted with a gameplay trailer back in March during ID@Xbox, it immediately caught our attention for several reasons. It not only boasts some interesting looking combat and impressive visuals, it’s also from the creators of Ashen.
The game is described as an open-world adventure RPG, featuring a mix of melee and firearm ranged combat, plus magic abilities. The project immediately gives off some Greedfall vibes, but there’s certainly an air of Souls-like combat about it as well.
Starting off strong
One good sign that this will be a strong launch is the decent amount of gameplay footage since the March reveal. Plenty of games start of with CGI trailers, but this game gets straight to the player experience. It’s not a guarantee of a hit game, mind you. But it’s something that should be noted.
More importantly, the gameplay looks good. We got to see a few of the abilities in action, such as levitating enemies and exposing them for finishing strikes. There was the boss battle, where you have to avoid things like AoE attacks and dodge other attacks with specific movements.
The graphics of Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn are another strong point of the game. The lighting looks gorgeous, there are varied environments, detailed textures, and some good looking magic effects.
Of course, plenty of game trailers look impressive and are not always representative of the final project. If you like what you see, keep an eye on this one. It will release on multiple platforms, including Steam. It’s also coming to Game Pass on day one of release, though Microsoft did not specify if that includes PC Game Pass.
