System Shock, originally released for Windows PC in 1994, is a cult favorite sci-fi/horror FPS that defined a genre that titles still fall into today. After 22 years, Night Dive Studios (Turok, System Shock 2) is trying their hand at remastering the hit they made so many years ago. In an interview with Polygon, Night Dive Founder, Stephen Kick expressed his excitement for the reboot:
It’s pretty much beyond my wildest dreams..We’ve kind of shifted the tone from the original game of a horror adventure to more of a horror experience.
This reboot isn’t to be confused with System Shock 3 which is still in development by Otherside Entertainment, headed by Warren Spector.
Instead, this just a remaster of the original 1994 title. There are not many details about the game except that it is in pre-alpha and looks absolutely gorgeous. Check out the gameplay footage from Night Dive below.
