The best farming location for both Fire and Ice Lizalfos parts in Tears of the Kingdom

Two elements, one location.

In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you normally find the bulk of Fire-Breath and Ice-Breath Lizalfos in strictly hot and cold environments respectively. So for Fire-Breath Lizalfos, you would want to explore Death Mountain, and for the Ice-Breath Lizalfos, you would stick to either the Hebra Mountains or the Gerudo Highlands. As it turns out, though, Tears of the Kingdom contains one location that houses large amounts of both Fire and Ice Lizalfos. If you want to farm these enemies’ unique parts, including their rare tail drops, this serves as the best place to do it.

Finding Fire and Ice Lizalfos in one place

The location in question is the Gerudo Canyon area, which has many groups of two to three Lizalfos dotted around the mountains and the main path. Just like other elemental enemies, these Lizalfos instantly dissipate and drop their materials when you hit them with the opposite element. This makes the process of farming them incredibly straightforward as long as you have a good amount of Fire Fruits, Ice Fruits, or other similar elemental materials on hand. This map by Reddit user Gogeta2112 contains the exact locations of each batch of Lizalfos in Gerudo Canyon.

Interestingly, the Fire and Ice Lizalfos in Gerudo Canyon have a unique behavior found nowhere else in the game. Essentially, this area cycles between the two variants depending on the time of day. From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., you will exclusively encounter Fire Lizalfos. At 7 p.m., the Fire Lizalfos will all burrow underground while the Ice Lizalfos come to the surface to take their place. This lasts until 7 a.m., when the cycle begins anew. Between every blood moon, you can travel to the same spawning locations at different times of the day to hunt down both variants and obtain their drops.

For armor sets in Tears of the Kingdom that require either Fire or Ice Lizalfos Tails, such as the Snowquill set, this area will be your best bet for obtaining at least one of them. If you want to ensure that you get the tails to spawn every time, you can always save and reload until you get one.
