Speaking to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn producer Naoki Yoshida at Gamescom last week, we were made privy to some interesting titbits of info regarding nods and references to past Final Fantasy games.
We already know that the re-release of the failure that was Final Fantasy XIV will be getting a brand new battle system in the form of the “limit break” system (a tweaked version of that seen in Final Fantasy VII), but that’s not all it’s borrowing from the series’ history.
When asked what else we can expect, Yoshida said:
“From Final Fantasy VI we’ve got the Magitek Armor, which will not only appear in the story but will be available as a mount for players. The end dungeon of Final Fantasy III, the Crystal Tower, will be available as an instanced raid in Final Fantasy XIV.
“Also, we hope to bring the Golden Saucer casino/theme park from Final Fantasy VII into the game.
“We don’t want to give everything away, so I don’t want to tell you anything. But, yes, there will be a lot from past Final Fantasy games and we hope players will be looking forward to the additions we make as the game progresses.”
