The World of Warcraft movie has been talked about for years but it’s one of those videogame movie tie-in projects that seemed to never quite get off the ground.
Director Sam Raimi was the first choice to director as far back as 2009 and the movie was planned to hit cinemas on in 2012. In 2019 Blizzard’s lore guru Chris Metzen revealed that the  movie had been delayed again and that it wasn’t ready to go into production. As the years passed it sounded like there had been disagreements over scripts and director choice but at least now it appears things are being finalised and production is getting underway according to Legendary.
In news posted on Slashfilm, it confirms that Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) will be directing the film and filming is expected to start early in 2014. Producer Charles Roven commented: “First quarter 2014 we’re going to shoot that movie. We’re moving forward; obviously Legendary is making that film and I’m having a great time with Duncan.”
The plan is to have the movie in theatres in 2015. Fans have waiting this long so there’s no hurry so let’s hope they do a great job and it’s not one of those horrible videogame movies.
