While dungeons and raids are the highlights of a new Final Fantasy XIV expansion, some would argue that the real endgame is spending hours of your time losing your mind with a crowd of other players waiting for a FATE to spawn. The Mascot Murder FATE is one of the rare FATEs in the Dawntrail expansion of FFXIV, and defeating Mica the Magical Mu will reward you with Mica Magicogs that can be exchanged for the Mica Suit and Mica Head in Solution Nine.
If you’re new to Final Fantasy XIV and haven’t messed around with rare FATEs like Serpent, then figuring out what the spawn timers and terminology mean can be frustrating. There are helpful community resources that help you track the spawn rates for FATEs and other events, but they aren’t much help if you don’t know how to make sense of the spawn window, cap, or other details. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about the Mascot Murder FATE in FFXIV, including the spawn timers for Mica the Magical Mu.

How to get the Mica Suit and Head in FFXIV
To get the Mica outfit in Final Fantasy XIV, then you need to get Mica Magicogs by completing the Mascot Murder FATE. You can exchange four of them for the Mica Head and six of them for the Mica Suit at the Uah’shepya vendor in Solution Nine (X: 8.6, Y: 13.5). Getting these Magicogs is easier said than done, however, since Mica only appears once every 48 hours in an exceptionally rare FATE.
The Mascot Murder FATE takes place in Living Memory (X: 37.2, Y: 33.3). You’ll need to have flight unlocked in the final Dawntrail zone to reach the platform where the battle occurs. It’s also set at level 100, but you can still participate with a Job that hasn’t reached the level cap yet. To get the maximum possible rewards per encounter, you’ll need a full party of eight players as well.
Mascot Murder FATE chain explained
The Mascot Murder FATE only spawns once every 48 hours, and the spawn rate is frustratingly low. In order for the Mascot Murder FATE to appear, two prerequisite FATEs must be completed beforehand.
- Mascot March (X: 35, Y: 34)
- Mascot Mayhem (X: 35, Y: 34)
These FATEs will regularly spawn in Living Memory, so you can’t miss them. After both FATEs are completed, there is a very small chance for Mascot Murder to begin and Mica the Magical Mu to spawn. While the exact spawn rate hasn’t been determined, it’s likely that Mica shares the same spawn percentage as Ttokrone of The Serpentlord Seethes FATE. That means there’s a 1.39% chance that Mica will spawn after the Mascot FATEs are completed.
If Mica isn’t ready to spawn, then the FATE chain will repeat. There are always players waiting for Mascot Murder to begin, so seek help from the Final Fantasy XIV community by asking to join a group in shout chat or browsing the Party Finder for any Mica parties in need of players. Farming the endlessly spawning FATEs with other players is a great way to stock up on Bicolor Gemstones, and the company will make the wait much more bearable.
FFXIV Dawntrail Mica spawn timer
The Mascot Murder FATE has a very slim chance of spawning after the prerequisite FATE chain is completed in Living Memory. There’s a 48-hour window where Mica can spawn, and he can only be slain once during this window before a lengthy cooldown period begins.
If the Mascot Murder FATE doesn’t show up by the end of the 48-hour window, the FATE will reach its cap. This means that Mica will be guaranteed to spawn after the next FATE chain. The FATE usually shows up randomly before it reaches its cap, so you shouldn’t count on the cap to get your Mica Magicogs. It’s a good idea to keep a close eye on any servers that have the Mascot Murder FATE close to cap, though.
How to use Faloop in Final Fantasy XIV
Faloop is an incredibly helpful community tool that lets you track the spawn windows and caps for all FATEs in Final Fantasy XIV, including Mica and Mascot Murder. Once you’re on the Faloop home page, you can sort the list by expansion and by content type. If you only want to see Mica, then set Faloop to show FATEs for version 7.0 only.
Faloop will then show you the status of the Mascot Murder FATE on every Final Fantasy XIV server. The meter will be green for any server and instance where the spawn window is open, so Mica has a chance of appearing on any listed destination. Remember that there’s only a 1.39% chance for Mica to appear after the prerequisites are met during the spawn window. The percentage meter on Faloop just shows how close the FATE is to its cap, not the spawn chances for Mica.
Most players tend to wait until the FATE is nearing its cap before they head to Living Memory and start waiting. While Mica can appear at any time during the spawn window, you’ll waste much less time if you find a server that only has a few hours left. Mica has to show up at some point during the 48-hour window, so if there are only a few hours left until cap, the odds are in your favor.
We highly recommend joining a community Discord server that tracks Hunt Marks and FATEs as well. They’ll send out a ping when Mica spawns and the community tends to wait a minute or two before pulling when FATEs appear, so you’ll have time to teleport to Living Memory and join the fight before it’s too late. Centurio Hunts is the main Discord for this sort of thing, but there are Data Center-specific servers like The Coeurl for Primal players.
How to farm Mica Magicogs in Final Fantasy XIV
You need a total of 10 Mica Magicogs to get the full Mica outfit in FFXIV, so you’ll need to defeat Mica the Magical Mu multiple times if you want the complete ensemble. You only need to beat him twice if you get the full rewards both times.
Once Mica appears, make sure you have a full party of eight players ready to go. You can get two, four, or six Mica Magicogs per encounter for getting a bronze, silver, or gold FATE contribution rating respectively, but you need a full party to get the highest ratings. Once you reach the arena, just post in shout chat that you’re looking for a group and someone is sure to invite you.
People will still be looking for the Mascot Murder FATE months down the line, so there’s no need to rush if you’re still working through the Dawntrail MSQ or trying to complete other content. People are always trying to find rare FATEs from every FFXIV expansion, so you won’t miss out on the Mica outfit if you miss the initial burst of excitement from the Dawntrail launch window. Still, if you’re going to grind FATEs to farm Bicolor Gemstones anyway, you might as well do it in Living Memory while waiting for Mica to spawn. It’s a great way to get those last few levels for your Viper or Pictomancer.
