Patch 6.5 Island Sanctuary: New animals and how to catch them

6.5 adds four new animals to capture: The full sized Morbol, as teased in the patch notes, a Pteranodon, an Adamantoise, and a Grand Doblyn. Each one is caught with Makeshift or Flawless Soporifics, the latter being a guaranteed catch rate. Makeshift Soporific needs two Island Laver, one Island Sap, and one Island Jellyfish each, while Flawless requires 25 each of Island Alyssum, Island Jellyfish, Island Hawk’s Eye Sand, Island Hammerhead, and Island Cave Shrimp. Each of the new mobs are unique, meaning only one shows up per window, so it may be worth the effort of crafting Flawless Soporifics.

Beyond that, you’ll find each at these requirements:

  • Morbol: Showers, 9 PM-12 AM, (28, 24), between Coral Sands and Peak Point
  • Pteranodon: Clear Skies, 9 AM-12 PM, (25, 16), on top of the mountain peak
  • Adamantoise: Fog, 12 PM-3 PM, (32, 12), near Rocky Reef
  • Grand Dobyln: Fair Skies, 3 AM- 6 AM, (23, 21), inside the Cave System

Note these are in server time, not real life time. You can check Eorzea Time by adjusting your Clock UI. Press Escape and go to Character Configuration, UI Settings, then the HUD tab, and check Eorzea Time on Clock Type. Beyond this, it’s a matter of waiting for the weather and time to line up and being ready. Keep a close eye on the in-game weather forecast. It changes every four hours inside Island Sanctuary, but you may still be waiting real life hours for some of these to pop up. Best of luck hunting all of the 6.5 Island Sanctuary animals!
