Make It Rain season is on, and that means hitting the Gold Saucer to enjoy double MGP until the event’s over. There are several very expensive mounts exclusive to the Gold Saucer and various other alluring cosmetics, so the time is opportune. If you want to rack up the most MGP for your time commitments, here are the best MGP farming tips for Make It Rain.
MGP Tips for Make It Rain: Basic Overview
To get the most out of Make It Rain besides simply spending all day doing GATEs or Chocobo Racing, you’ll need to focus on three things: The Cactpots, The Challenge Log’s Gold Saucer entries, and Fashion Report. Completing all of these ensures you’ll get the most of the weekly Gold Saucer challenges.
Before you start anything, you’ll need one key ingredient: Jackpot II. This is a Free Company action increasing the payout from MGP activities by 10%. Stack that with the 50% already going on for a whopping 60% increase in MGP from everything but Challenge Log entries.
Your Free Company must be rank 8 to purchase the action for 6,020 credits. It’s obtained from the OIC Quartermaster at whichever Grand Company your Free Company is allied with. Furthermore, you or someone else has to be able to execute the action in the first place. Make sure you’re in a Free Company with access to Jackpot II to make the most of Make It Rain.
With that settled, now we move on to everything to cover. These are categorized by time commitment.

Make It Rain Best MGP Farming Tips: The Quick and Easy
- Mini Cactpot: Every day you can purchase three Mini Cactpot tickets from the Mini Cactpot Broker at the Entrance Square Counter (6.5, 5.6). These are small amounts of MGP, but add up with the boost.
- Jumbo Cactpot: Weekly, three tickets for the Jumbo Cactpot lottery are purchased at the Jumbo Cactpot Broker (8.5, 5.9) on the top floor of Event Square. The drawing occurs Saturdays at 3 PM EST on the North American Data Centers. Even if you don’t win, you’ll get a decent consolation prize.
- Fashion Report: Masked Rose (7.2, 7.3) in Wonder Square hosts a challenge weekly to show your style based on a theme. The best way to do Fashion Report is to wait until Friday for this reddit user to post a graphic detailing exactly what you need to do to get the almost 100k payout.
- Lord Verminion: Located upstairs in Minion Square, you can cheese this gamemode to get three separate Challenge Log entries complete for playing the game once, three times, and five times respectively. Select the fourth mission, Little Big Beast, and send a bunch of Wind-up Gentlemen or otherwise your highest attack stat minions at the Gobbue and repeat this four times.
- Triple Triad: The easiest way to complete all three entries at once is to queue into the Battlehall and challenge Wyra “Greenhands” Lyehga until you’ve won 10 times. Alternatively, grab a friend and queue into the Battlehall and challenge each other, as you’ll get a higher MGP payout from challenging another player with no fee to start playing.
- Minigames: To get the most out of these entries, play Out On A Limb (located upstairs outside of Minion Square) three times. You should earn enough.
The Moderate
- GATEs: The Gold Saucer’s version of FATEs, spawning every 20 minutes with different short minigames. Depending on the time, there are different possibilities.
- On the hour: Air Force One, Cliffhanger, or Leap of Faith (Falling City of Nym map). Call this the easy round. All three of these take the least effort.
- 20 minutes: Any Way the Wind Blows, The Slice is Right, or Leap of Faith (The Fall of Belah’dia). We’ll call this the Moderate Suffering mark, as the first two have no guaranteed win chance and the latter is mildly painful to complete.
- 40 minutes: The Slice is Right, Air Force One, or Leap of Faith (Sylphstep). This is best called the Intense Gamble mark, as the first or last will ensure you suffer to try to complete the minigame and you may not even do that. Or you’ll simply be lucky enough to get Air Force One and won’t have to think.
Chocobo Racing: You have to enter 20 separate Chocobo Races and manage to win one of those. With each match averaging about four minutes, this takes approximately an hour and twenty minutes.
- Triple Triad Open Tournament: A rotating rules tournament with pre-set cards and possibly real players. You have to catch this every two hours on the odd hour to get 4,500 MGP for participating. Make sure you unlock it by speaking to the NPC at the desk at the Card Square.
I recommend queuing for racing between GATEs to maximize time. You can find out the next GATE and teleport to it by speaking to any of the Gate Keeper NPCs, marked with a dual circle on your map.
The Time Sinks
Past this point, I don’t personally recommend doing these, as they’re not worth the time commitment when GATEs exist. If you’re still interested…
- Doman Mahjong: Has a Challenge Log entry if you complete two matches with three other real players. Even if you select Quick Match, these will take forever.
- Chocobo Racing: Getting 10 wins in Chocobo Racing might be easy if you’ve already maximized your Chocobo. For those who haven’t invested much time into this minigame, it may take too many races to get there.
And now you’ve done everything you can each week. You memorized he best MGP farming tips for Make It Rain. It’s up to you if you wish to continue grinding GATEs or otherwise in the meantime for desired rewards.
