FFXIV All Saints’ Wake 2023: Walkthrough and rewards

Witness mortal and monster come together for the fun of fear as the voidsent assist with the holiday.

The yearly Halloween seasonal event, named All Saints’ Wake in universe, has returned to FFXIV with a new emote and new furniture item. Here’s the full guide to All Saints’ Wake 2023.

This year proves to have a questline defying expectations, as Papa Gruff returns not as the antagonist but the companion for the story. With Papa Gruff on our side now, who is out to ruin All Saints’ Wake this time? Needless to say, it’s one of my favorite All Saints’ Wake questlines.

All Saints’ Wake 2023 starting location

Teleport to New Gridania and Aetheryte to Mih Khetto’s Amphitheatre. While the other events in this location start on the stage, this one starts over by a tree with the Adventurers’ Guild Investigator (10.3, 8.4). The quest is ‘The Fright Stuff’. Note you must be level 15 to accept the quest.

Now you can head on to the stage (10.2, 9.4) to talk to Pumpkin-headed Apparition. The powerful voidsent explains she is trying to make this All Saints’ Wake one that both monsters and mortals can enjoy. To this end, she’s made her minions, including Papa Gruff, go around scaring people in an enjoyable manner. She would have you aid Papa Gruff in figuring out how to properly scare people in a fun manner.

After talking to her, run down the way towards the Leatherworker’s Guild and drop down beneath the bridge (12.2, 8.7). Here you’ll find Papa Gruff and a cutscene. If you’ve done All Saints’ Wake before, he’ll remember you. After the cutscene, talk to him again to begin a following sequence.

Your next target is just up the path by the exit to New Gridania at (11.6, 9.4). Talk to the Off-duty Sergeant. You’re given a list of three options to scare him, but only one is correct. Pick ‘Give him the ghastliest ghoul you can muster’.

The quickest way to the next target is to walk over to the Leatherworker’s Guild Aetheryte and warp to The Centaur’s Eye. Then go down the path west to the Cowering Boy (13.0, 6.5). If you pick the wrong option to scare him, the game calls you a monster. The correct option is ‘Something spoopy– <cough> Pardon me, spooky.” Yes, that’s the actual text.

Now follow the path west until you reach the Uncowed Girl at (10.3, 6.7). Stick west afterwards to reach the Startled Botanist (8.7, 7.6). Then follow the map into the Greatloam Growery. You’ll be able to see the destination in the distance at (6.3, 7.2).

After the cutscene, speak to the Pumpkin-headed Apparition to complete the quest. You automatically learn the emote All Saints’ Charm, along with 1440 EXP and 344 gil. Next, speak to Papa Gruff to pick up the second quest, ‘A Charmed Life’.

For the next objective, run up to the Botanist’s Guild Aetheryte and teleport to the Leatherworker’s Guild. By going through the same route as earlier, you’ll find each of the voidsent along the way. As something new, the second request requires the event emote to complete it. You need to target each and type /allsaintscharm into the chat. After that, use The Centaur’s Eye Aetheryte to return to Mih Khetto’s Amphitheatre and talk to Papa Gruff on the stage.

Now all you need to do is return to The Adventurers’ Guild Investigator to complete the quest.

Rewards and bonus activities

Talk to the Bespectacled Peddler inside the Ampihtheatre (10.2, 9.0) to purchase the other two event rewards. You can buy either a Wall-mounted Vampire Bats for 2,000 gil, or Magicked Prism (Pumpkin) for 2 gil.

If you want to see the Sneaky Hollow, the Unusual Usher is just off from the stage at (10.1, 9.2). The mansion is not available this year, since the Continential Circus isn’t here.

However, you can talk to the Unsavory and Inscrutable Imp to glamour your character into an NPC of your choice, as per usual with All Saints’ Wake. While transformed, you can emote, but not talk to NPCs or do important actions like teleport. Click the ‘Unveil’ action on your hotbar to turn back to normal. The amount of NPCs you can turn into depend on how many expansions you’ve completed.

That about wraps up FFXIV All Saints’ Wake 2023. Who knew Papa Gruff would come around?
