Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse – Memo with Code solution

Numbers game.

In Phase 3 of Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, you need to find the solution to the ‘Memo with Code’ in the Director’s Office to continue the story. The puzzle isn’t difficult, but it is a puzzle, so it’s easy to come at it from the wrong angle. We’re going to break down how to solve the code and then just straight up show you the answer in case you don’t care to figure it out yourself.

First off, you need to interact with the keypad on the director’s desk to enter the answer. Here’s the memo itself:

The key is obviously the text in red. Twice seven is 14 and then you add one. The answer is clearly 15, but there are three spaces. Add the top two rows together and you’ll see they both equal 15. This means that they need to equal 15 down as well.

Punch in the numbers

Enter “2 7 6” and then hit the button pictured and you’ll solve the puzzle and be able to continue exploring the infirmary. Most of the puzzles in Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse don’t task you with a line of thinking comparable to figuring out the memo’s code, so don’t worry about running into this type of thing often.

You’re more likely to stumble upon a puzzle where you’re rearranging tiles or get stuck searching for an item that you can’t seem to find. After solving the puzzle, Choshiro will be able to move the bookcase in the Director’s Office, which will allow him to head downstairs to a creepy new room. Since the Spirit Stone Flashlight is missing the Fatal Frame ability, the ghosts he faces will be slower, less threatening, and will have less health than the ones you meet as Ruka and Misaki. So enjoy the rest of the save chapter.
