Destiny 2: Fastest way to complete Right to Succession

Right to Succession, just as you might expect, is the Brave weapon quest given by Arcite 99-40 which will help you unlock the Succession sniper rifle. By completing the Right to Succession quest, you will enable Succession drops across your activities throughout the galaxy. These are the two alternatives for completing the Succession quest:

  • Defeat combatants with precision damage using Sniper Rifles anywhere in the system. Bonus progress granted in Onslaught.
  • Defeat combatants in raids and dungeons using Sniper Rifles.

Now, arguably, there are many ways you can approach this with your Sniper Rifles thanks to the two options above – you only need to accomplish one. Let’s take a look at the alternatives.

Defeat Shanks and Servitors in Onslaught

Playing Onslaught will be extremely beneficial for you for various reasons. The one that relates to this quest is obvious: you get more progress if you kill enemies with precision damage by playing Onslaught. However, you will also rank up your reputation with Lord Shaxx by completing Onslaught Daily Bounties and rounds in general.

If you do choose to shoot enemies in Onslaught, I suggest focusing on Taken enemies such as the Shanks and Servitors. Dealing precision damage to these enemies will be easier than any other enemy given the fact that their weak points – hitting them will cause precision damage – are bigger than with other enemies.

Combining this with the bonus progression given in Onslaught, then you have a significantly faster way to complete the Right to Succession quest.

Defeating Combatants anywhere in the system

Now, this will be a bit slower given the fact that you won’t receive special ammo as fast as you do in Onslaught. As the quest instructs, you can get combatant defeat progression by defeating any enemies with precision in any part of the system.

While Onslaught will provide more progression overall, you can get significant progress by getting a percentage point per 2 or 3 minor enemy defeats. I suggest traveling to an area with infinite enemy spawns such as the Divalian Mists in the Dreaming City. Keep aiming for headshots with your Sniper Rifles at the entrance of the Dreaming City in Divalian Mists and you will complete the quest eventually – not as fast as Onslaught, though.

Defeat Combatants in raids or dungeons

Finally, one great way to collect precision damage kills for the Right to Succession quest in Destiny 2 is by focusing on the alternative objective: defeat combatants in raids or dungeons. If you are a veteran Guardian, then the first thought that comes to mind is the Shuro Chi encounter in the Last Wish raid. This encounter features a lot of combatant density, making it the best farming spot in the game.

The downside is that, while the kill count to complete the quest is relatively low – only 100 – getting to this encounter – which is the second of the Last Wish raid – may be difficult for non-experienced or solo players. It is a high-risk and high-rewarding method, so consider it as an alternative if for whatever reason Onslaught isn’t your cup of tea.

Out of the three, I would consider either the Onslaught or Dreaming City strategies. Simply because I suck at raids, and I’m sure I’m not the only one, right? Anyway, progression – even outside or Onslaught – will be awarded relatively fast, so there is no excuse to not complete this Brave weapon quest. After all, completing all of this weapon quest will be rewarding eventually, so get to shooting!
