There are two Mindfuck puzzles in Far Cry 6 Vaas: Insanity. There’s The Balancing Point where you visit a surreal version of Dr. Earnhardt’s house. And there’s Checking Out, which is even creepier. Here’s our Far Cry 6 Vaas: Insanity DLC guide to help you with the Checking Out Mindfuck puzzle.

How to complete the Checking Out Mindfuck puzzle in Far Cry 6 Vaas: Insanity
The Checking Out Mindfuck puzzle in Far Cry 6 Vaas: Insanity can be found in the eastern section of the map. It’s further away from most other temples or mission areas, though the #2 Mirror Link fast travel point is right next to it.
Once you’re there, you’ll see a glimpse of Vaas all tied up, as Jason kicks him down the pit. This nets you the Roleplay vision collectible if you watch it in its entirety.
Next, jump down the pit and swim to the well-lit passageway. An image of Vaas will start talking, giving his “definition of insanity” speech (as you can see in the featured image). There’s also a hotel in the distance, with floating sharks in the air. When you try to get close to the hotel, it’ll keep moving backward. For now, just listen to all of Vaas’ dialogue. Eventually, he’ll reappear in front of the hotel and you’ll be able to enter it.
As you move down the hallway, you’ll likely be reminded of The Shining vibes. You’ll then reach one door that’s open. There’s a wooden table here with a key. To your left is a door marked with an exit sign. Do not go outside because this will cause the Checking Out Mindfuck area to reset.
Instead, go to the rooms in the following order:
- 1991
- 2003
- 2006
- 2007
- 2012
- 2012 (another one will be unlocked)
In each room, there are some simple tasks, such as picking up a blade, shaving your head, or destroying photographs. At least one room has a diary entry collectible, but all the rooms have vision collectibles that will play. As such, make sure to watch the scenes in their entirety. Yes, these are all fragments of Vaas’ memory, and the rooms themselves represent the previous years of his life. You’ll even notice that Room 2012 actually depicts his “death” at the hands of Jason Brody (Far Cry 3 released in 2012).
Speaking of that “final room,” all you need to do is watch the scene and exit the door. This will complete the Checking Out Mindfuck puzzle in Far Cry 6 Vaas: Insanity. Outside, you’ll see several pedestals with temporary Powers that you can equip or sell.
Far Cry 6 is available via Ubisoft’s store and the Epic Games Store.
