IncGamers has learnt that Far Cry 3 will not be set in Africa.
According to an inside source at Ubisoft Montreal working on the title, the next instalment of the game will be set somewhere “outside” of Africa and will take advantage of a new setting.
This news comes after Far Cry 3 was confirmed by Kevin Shortt in an interview with PlayStation Magazine, scriptwriter for Avatar and Far Cry 2.
“We’re still in very early development and we have no idea where it’s going to be set, but I’m pretty sure that it won’t be in Africa,” our source told us.
Our source also said that the team were still discussing the game’s direction and that nothing had been set in stone.
Although our source said that the game won’t be set in Africa, it was iterated that could be subject to change, but it was more than likely going to be set outside of Africa and somewhere completely new.
We reckon it’s going to be in space, as discussed on our podcast in Montreal, but which planet or solar system or galaxy is yet to be revealed.
