Developers from the upcoming MMO Fallen Earth have revealed details of the intricate character customisation planned for the game.
Personalisation of characters is becoming more important in MMOs as people seek out deeper levels of immersion in their games. Older MMOs like World of Warcraft have limited customisation available for characters, with a handful of faces and hairstyles available. Players often bump into clones of themselves due to the lack of options, however, newer games offer players many more choices and Fallen Earth certainly does that.
In a recent developer chat, FE’s team reveal that in addition to the usual customisations like skin colour, hair colour and style, players will be able to change the facial structure, add tattoos, piercings, face paints or make-up. There’s also plenty of room for RP gear too, aparently characters have 19 slots for apparel including glasses and hats.
“We’ve got lots of different types of clothes and other items players can use for RP, plus lots of places to do it.”
For a gritty post-apocalyptic MMO, that’s quite nifty.
Fallen Earth is based in the year 2156, and takes place near the Grand Canyon. There are six factions to chose from and a crafting system that allows players to create most of the items in the game. It’s currently in the Alpha stage of testing, but developers recently announced they have completed the content, which includes over 5,000 missions, mounted combat and PvP.
