F1 2020‘s MyTeam mode provides you with new opportunities to control your own organization, select your sponsors, and help in the development of your teammates. It also has another feature, one that lets you upgrade your organization’s facilities in order to unlock more perks and improve your R&D projects. Here’s our guide to help you out.

F1 2020: MyTeam – Your facilities and their upgrades
In F1 2020, your organization in MyTeam has six different facilities and they simply appear as menus under the Facilities panel. Four of these are related to your R&D departments/vehicle upgrades. The other two are for your team’s morale, Acclaim, and second driver’s stat boosts.
The R&D facilities
The four R&D facilities — Aerodynamics, Chassis, Powertrain, and Durability — have similar upgrade types and paths:
- Fabrication – Increases the number of simultaneous upgrades/projects.
- Build Time – Increases the speed of project completion.
- Quality Control – Lowers the failure rate of upgrades.
- Resource Point Generation – Increases the number of resource points generated specifically by that department.
You can see each of the R&D facilities’ panels in a series of images below:
Aerodynamics
Each department’s upgrade path has three ranks. The higher the rank, the costlier it becomes not just when purchasing the upgrade, but also when it comes to operational expenses.
In my view, the Aerodynamics group is head and shoulders above the rest. Formula One races will make you pay for major mistakes such as poorly executed turns or slower top speed in straights. As such, you’ll want improvements to downforce and grip.
Note: If you checked out our F1 2020 MyTeam beginner’s guide, you might remember that you get to select a power unit supplier at the start of each season. If you have the money to pick Mercedes or Ferrari, then you won’t need to spend a lot on your Powertrain department’s upgrades. Instead, the money should go to your Aero or Chassis group. Durability is, probably the least of your concerns not unless you’re running full-length circuits.
As for resource point generation, by default, each department provides 20 points per week (a total of 80 points). The resource points are a shared pool so you won’t need to worry about, say, increasing the Durability group’s effects just to get more points specifically for Durability projects/upgrades.
It’s also possible to increase resource point generation via Corporate -> Contracts -> Driver Perks -> Development Feedback (seen below). This mechanic is also present in F1 2020‘s Driver Career, and it’s pretty much the only input you’ll have when it comes to the development of your departments in that mode.
Organizational and teammate facilities
The last two facilities in F1 2020‘s MyTeam mode — Personnel and Marketing — affect your teammate’s stats and Team Acclaim/team-based boosts respectively.
The Personnel tab has the following upgrades:
- Simulator – Increases the Pace stat.
- Fitness Center – Increases Racecraft and Awareness.
- Analysis Suite – Increases Experience.
Note: You can learn more about your teammate’s stats and contract negotiations in our F1 2020 MyTeam teammate management guide.
The Marketing tab, meanwhile, has these:
- Sponsor Relations – Increases Team Acclaim at an accelerated rate.
- Activities Management – Amplify the positive effects of team-based activities (ie. teambuilding exercises or morale increases).
Note: Sponsor Relations is one of the most important upgrades you can take in F1 2020‘s MyTeam mode. These are very costly, but you’ll notice the benefits soon enough. Your Team Acclaim’s rise will help you get new sponsors to increase your organization’s income.
F1 2020 is available via Steam. The standard edition releases on July 10. However, the Deluxe Schumacher Edition allows players to start racing on July 7. For more information, check out our guides and features hub.
