After two whole years of Early Access, Everspace 2 finally has a release date for its 1.0 launch. The game originally debuted on Steam in January of 2021 and I played it on day one. Despite how rough Early Access games can be, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and was surprised by the level of quality on display. If you’ve been holding off on the game until its full release, you’ll no doubt be pleased to know that there are only two short months to go before the game can be played from start to finish, bringing its development to a close.
Everspace 2 is set to fully launch on April 6, which is well within the window Rockfish Games promised when the game debuted. An early 2023 window was planned. But even though it won’t quite be out in the first quarter, it’s coming pretty close. In the meantime, players seem to be pretty fond of the game, as it has over 5,000 Steam reviews totaling an 87% positive score.
There will be an awful lot added to the game at release, including another star system and companion. Players can also look forward to new enemies, perks, equipment types, and improvements to the game’s cinematic sequences.
Everspace 2 gets an April release date
Everspace 2 is the sequel to the first Everspace, which was a rogue-lite action game where players pilot a spacecraft. The sequel is much, much more ambitious, however, as it has a campaign that spans dozens of hours as players work through a space opera story while upgrading their craft and battling enemies across the stars.
Although the game currently costs $39.99 USD, the price will increase to $49.99 USD on February 20, so you’ve got a couple of weeks to get in before the price increase takes effect. Considering the amount of content it offers and the general scope of the game, that seems fair to me.
