Checking the Fortnite Item Shop when it refreshes is one of the most exciting times of a Fortnite player’s day. With leaked and datamined skins on the horizon, the Item Shop refreshing means you might finally get to spend V-Bucks on that outfit you’ve been waiting for.
Since the introduction of Fortnite Festival and LEGO Fortnite, however, the Item Shop isn’t what it used to be. Not only are skins like The Weeknd stuck in the shop for several more weeks, but crossover skins like Rick and Morty continue to pop up day after day for new players who might have missed the initial collaboration period. Veteran Fortnite fans are upset at the lack of new and original content in the Item Shop — so upset that they’ve taken to TikTok to express their frustrations in a rather unique way.
Some TikTok users have begun filming the Fortnite Item Shop to complain about the recycled content and lack of new additions, but some people have pointed out that these users sound a little bit like the cast of Young Sheldon. At first, this trend was limited to the Cooper family alone, but now it’s hard to scroll through TikTok without seeing at least one Young Sheldon character complaining about the Fortnite Item Shop.

This trend has even led to some people speculating that a Young Sheldon collaboration might be in the works for Fortnite (with some talented artists even designing very believable mock-ups of Young Sheldon Item Shop pages), but sadly, Young Sheldon is not coming to Fortnite. Adult Sheldon isn’t coming either since a Big Bang Theory crossover hasn’t been leaked yet. This is just a funny way of people airing their frustrations with how the Item Shop has been handled recently.
On top of recycling the same handful of skins and cosmetics, Epic Games has also made a strange new change to the Fortnite Item Shop. The shop timer that counts down to the daily Item Shop refresh has been removed. Now, there’s just a generic message that explains that the Item Shop usually refreshes every day at 7:00 PM ET.
With Fortnite Festival, LEGO Fortnite, and Rocket Racing existing alongside the standard Battle Royale modes and drawing in lots of new players, it’s understandable that the Item Shop is starting to get crowded with popular skins veteran players might already have. Hopefully, Epic Games changes things up pretty soon, though, because if the Fortnite community has rallied behind Young Sheldon of all things, it’s clear that they’re getting desperate.
