CCP’s EVE: Valykrie looks like it’s going to be cracking VR title and today they announced it’s going to be bundled with pre-orders for the Oculus Rift.

Oculus will be looking to tie in as many top VR titles as possible for its launch in Q1 next year because it’s going to have some stiff competition from the HTC Vive. Picking up EVE: Valykrie is good news for Oculus who have already tied in the tasty looking space adventure Adr1ft as a launch title.

Oculus’ Palmer Luckey had this to day about the Valykrie  deal:

“EVE: Valkyrie is one of the most anticipated virtual reality games, and one of the first true VR games to go into development. It perfectly captures the promise of immersive gaming, shooting you into a sci-fi adventure as you pilot a spaceship in search of combat. Battling your friends (and enemies) in multiplayer space dogfights is the ultimate VR thrill, and we’re excited to partner with CCP to bring this experience to Rift owners everywhere.”

We can’t argue with that because EVE: Valykrie does look great. What we can argue with is the capabilities of the Rift compared to the Vive. The Rift is ideal for seated gameplay due it’s fixed tracking system whereas the Vive utlises full positional tracking which is likely to open up more interesting VR experiences.

Q1 and Q2 next year is going to be a very interesting period for VR and Oculus are set to release the Rift first now that the Vive has been delayed slightly. However, the Vive has gathered some real support from the PC gaming community thanks to it’s positional tracking capabilities and the fact that it has nothing to do with Facebook.
