Nobody likes cheats and Epic has weighed in with an update addressing cheating in Fortnite and the Battle Royale mode.

Epic says addressing cheaters in Fortnite is the “highest priority” at Epic Games and they are working hard to combat the cheaters and the cheat providers.

“We’re exploring every measure to ensure these cheaters are removed and stay removed from Fortnite Battle Royale and the Epic ecosystem. We don’t want to give too many clues about what we’re doing, but we are rolling out tools and will continue to do so. Thousands have been banned and we have no plans to stop!”, says Epic and Fortnite community guy Nathan Mooney.

In other news , Mooney also mentioned that account progression is coming to Fortnite in the next few weeks. This means there will be rewards for simply playing the game which they say should help combat the cheaters. Mooney explains:

“In the next several weeks we’ll also roll out progression. Account progression means that you will earn stuff as you play. And it’s not just for fun – it will also help in the war against casual Cheaters and will give them less incentive to simply cheat their progression with a ban around the corner! For those persistent trolls, we’ll be continuing to work on solutions.”

Good to see Epic are on the case with this, there’s nothing worse than a cheat and they are sometimes hard to spot. Why anyone would really want to cheat in a game still puzzles me.
