The latest Elite: Dangerous newsletter reveals that the next Horizons update (2.2 Guardians) will be entering beta on 20 September. That, as you can probably figure out, is next Tuesday.

If you already paid into Elite: Dangerous’ PC beta system, then you’ll have access as usual. Those who own or buy the Horizons expansion in the near future will be able to pay an extra £7 GBP for beta access, if they so desire. If you’re not interested in paying for a beta, 2.2 will now most likely have a full launch in early October (though that’s obviously not set in stone).

The 2.2 Guardians update was pretty extensively detailed at GamesCom and includes the new Beluga ship and passenger transport system, ship-launched fighters (with NPC crew), new station interiors, and more.
