Sorceress Sellen is an NPC that you’ll meet in Elden Ring. She has a bunch of spells that you can purchase, and you can unlock more as you collect some special items that she needs. Here’s our Elden Ring guide to help you with Sorceress Sellen scrolls and the Waypoint Ruins.
Note: For more information, check out our Elden Ring guides and features hub.
Elden Ring – Sorceress Sellen scroll locations and Waypoint Ruins guide
Waypoint Ruins is a location in Elden Ring that’s found in Limgrave. It’s east of the starting area. You’ll want to follow the normal path of progression until you reach the Gatefront where you’ll acquire Torrent and the means of leveling up. From there, follow the road southeast past the bridge.
You should then see the Troll Carriage and some collapsed buildings on the hill. There are some respawning enemies here, such as giant flowers that cause poison while casting laser beams (yep).
What we’re looking for, however, is a small cellar doorway. Inside, you’ll fight the Mad Pumpkin Head boss.
The Mad Pumpkin Head has very predictable attacks, though you could take a bit of damage if you’re caught in its headbanging routine. Likewise, be forewarned that targeting its head when you’re locked-on will cause some weapon attacks to get deflected.
Note: Upon defeating the Mad Pumpkin Head boss, you’ll get access to the Waypoint Ruins Cellar fast travel site. This is very helpful in case you want to farm runes via the Troll Carriage.
In any case, you should be able to talk to Sorceress Sellen inside her room. By default, she has six Sorcery spells that you can purchase. To see more stuff that we can buy, we can gather unique scrolls and bring them back to her.
Note: In case you accidentally attack Sorceress Sellen, you can use Celestial Dew in the Church of Vows to remove her hostility.
Royal House Scroll
The closest Sorceress Sellen scroll that we can grab in Elden Ring is just south of our current location. Follow the path from Waypoint Ruins until you see a camp that’s filled with soldiers.
Rather than fighting everyone, we’ll just head along the cliffside to reach the top of the ruins. There’s an undead caster here, so take it out. You should see the Royal House Scroll nearby, too. Giving Sellen this scroll unlocks the Swift Glintstone Shard and Great Glintstone Shard spells.
Academy Scroll
You’ll reach Liurnia of the Lakes after clearing Stormveil Castle and defeating Godrick the Grafted. Upon exiting the castle, you’ll find a Site of Grace called the Lake-Facing Cliffs. Along the path, you’ll see a graveyard where several undead will attack you. Watch out for the floating skulls, as maxing out the Death meter will instantly kill your character.
Pick up the Academy Scroll next to a tombstone and deliver it to Sellen. You’ll be able to buy the Carian Slicer and Glintblade Phalanx.
Conspectus Scroll
Much later, you’ll be able to enter the Academy of Raya Lucaria. Progress further until you reach the Schoolhouse Classroom fast travel point. Then, exit that and go to your left. You should find the corpse of a wizard with this scroll. The wall here is actually an illusion, and hitting it reveals a secret pathway that lets you acquire more items (i.e., Olivinus Glintstone Crown) that not related to Sellen’s task for you.
In any case, bringing this third Sorceress Sellen scroll will let you purchase two additional spells: Glintstone Cometshard and Star Shower.
Azur’s Sorcery and Restoring the Primeval Current
There seems to be another quest that involves Sellen. I did obtain an Azur Sorcery spell, but haven’t progressed further with the quest since I’m still checking out other secrets. You can be sure that I’ll update our guide once I complete that quest or discover more Sorceress Sellen scrolls in Elden Ring.
Update: Here’s a separate guide detailing Sellen’s personal quest involving Azur and Lusat. I did get stuck halfway through, but I mentioned the possible reasons. Hopefully, you’ll have better luck than I did.
