Sellia Town of Sorcery is an area in the Caelid region of Elden Ring. The road is perilous and the enemies are relentless, but we’ll meet some pals, complete a mission, and collect lots of loot. Here’s our Elden Ring Sellia Town of Sorcery guide to help you with the Sellia’s Secret quest and Gowry’s tasks.

Elden Ring Sellia Town of Sorcery guide – Sellia’s Secret and Gowry
Meeting Gowry and getting the Unalloyed Gold Needle
To reach Sellia Town of Sorcery in Elden Ring, we’ll need to travel all the way to the southeastern section of Caelid. Follow the main road, but be vigilant since there are numerous monsters along the way.
As the road loops around, you should find a man, Gowry, in his shack (watch out for the Stray Dog Totem). Gowry says that he will tell you the origins of Sellia Town of Sorcery, if you find an Unalloyed Gold Needle.
To get this item, make your way to the Swamps of Aeonia in the center of this zone. There, you’ll find an overworld boss named Commander O’Neil. Funnily enough, you can just climb a branch and snipe your target. Just be sure to take care of any spectral archers that are around.
Note: Caelid is a wasteland that’s infested by the rot. This is a debilitating disease that will affect you if you’re standing on the red pools like those in the swampland. Once the bar is full, you’ll lose health a lot faster than just being poisoned.
Sellia’s Secret clue
Return to Gowry and give him the item. He’ll provide the Sellia’s Secret clue, which you can read via your inventory. The Sellia’s Secret quest in Elden Ring entails lighting the three flames in the nearby towers.
My suggestion is to enter Sellia Town of Sorcery and gallop all the way to the back. There are steps that lead to an archway that’s sealed by magic, though you’ll also find a Golden Seed. From this vantage point, you should see the three towers that are required. You can tackle them in any order, but I’ve numbered them for convenience in this guide.
Note 1: Sellia Town of Sorcery is filled with Glintstone Sorcerers, but they’re all spirits. They’ll be invisible unless you get close enough. Likewise, there are other creatures like flying Gremlins and Stray Dogs.
Note 2: There’s a Site of Grace past the road that’s sloping downward to the swamp. You can find the Rotten Stray Ashes just past this bonfire. It’s one of the better summons in the game due to the poison effect. Likewise, there’s a boss arena further back, but we won’t tackle that yet.
Tower #1
Jump to reach the branch and climb the ladder. This one’s easy.
Note: When you light a tower’s flame, it will say that a seal has been broken. Don’t mind these kinds of notifications since we’ll pick up the loot later.
Tower #2
From the Golden Seed sapling, go down the steps until you can line up your jump to reach the branch. Move across the rooftops and jump to get to this chapel. You’ll find a ladder at the back.
Tower #3
From Tower #2, cross the branch to reach the opposite side of the street. You’ll be able to get there soon enough.
Sealed chests and loot in Sellia Town of Sorcery
All right, let’s talk about the loot that we can find in Sellia Town of Sorcery in Elden Ring:
- Sealed Chest: Night Comet – In a nook across from the overlook with the Golden Seed.
- Sealed Chest: Spelldrake Talisman – In a nook just across from Tower #1 (seen in the image below).
- Cerulean Tear Scarab (headgear) – On the way to Tower #2.
- Stonesword Key – On an archway as you head to Tower #3.
- Redmane Painting – Under a collapsed building visible from the road.
- Ash of War: Double Slash – Found on a branch opposite at the edge of the village. Trying to catch it across rooftops would be a bad idea since you could miss/fall and it’d despawn. Just snipe it from afar.
- Sealed Chest: Imbued Sword Key – At the grassy area along the opposite side of the buildings near Tower #2.
Going up the hill and meeting Millicent
With all three tower flames lit, you may now pass through the archway behind the Golden Seed sapling. There’s a Site of Grace here, but watch out because two metal ball traps will appear along the road, beelining for your location.
Further uphill, you’ll see the Church of Plague, which has its own Site of Grace. Here, you’ll find a Sacred Tear, as well as a woman who seems afflicted by the rot.
Return to Gowry, who’ll hand over the Unalloyed Gold Needle. Bring this back to the woman so she can cure herself.
Go back to Gowry again. This time, he’ll let you purchase Sorcery spells (i.e., Glintstone Stars, Night Shard, and Night Maiden’s Mist). However, be sure to buy all the stuff from him now. As far as I know, he’ll disappear once the woman is cured.
And, yes, that woman will be cured the moment you fast travel back to the church and talk to her. She introduces herself as Millicent, and she gives you the Prosthesis-Wearer Heirloom. This gives +5 DEX. If you return to Gowry’s Shack, he’ll be long gone. But, Millicent should be there saying that she’ll go on a journey.
Note: If you follow the hill past the Church of Plague, you’ll see a skeleton mage that’s guarding a large tombstone in this area. Hit the wall behind the tombstone to find a hidden cave. This is part of Sorceress Sellen’s quest to find Lusat.
Elden Ring boss fight: Nox Swordstress and Nox Priest (Chair-Crypt of Sellia)
Before we end our trek in Sellia Town of Sorcery in Elden Ring, don’t forget that there’s still a boss fight waiting for us. The entrance is down below the Golden Seed sapling and Tower #1. Inside, you’ll fight the Nox Swordstress and Nox Priest at the same time.
If you have a Spirit Ash summon that can spawn several mobs, then it can help even the odds. The two like to jump and dodge projectiles, which means their AI can get tricked when there are several distractions. Defeating them nets you the Nox Flowing Sword.
Last but not least, the chamber at the back will open. Inside, you’ll find a chest that contains Lusat’s Glintstone Staff. If that name sounds familiar, that’s because it was probably wielded by Sorceress Sellen’s tutor.
