UK culture secretary Ed Vaizey has shocked the world by revealing the existence of extra-terrestrial life in the laboratories of Creative Assembly.
Vaizey jumped on the tweet-o-phone to declare “Great visit to Creative Assembly one of UK’s best developers. Now hiring for new blockbuster based on Alien,” perhaps not quite realising that the game hadn’t been officially announced yet. Or perhaps he did, and this was a sneaky way of leaking the info.
In either case, the developers best known for the Total War series are indeed working on a title based on Ridley Scott’s 1979 Alien film. The company’s website features a message saying the team are “now hiring” for a “new console project.”
Not a great deal more is known about the game; other than it seems it’ll definitely be getting a console release (it remains to be seen if we’ll get a PC port) and will be published by SEGA. RockPaperShotgun describe the title as an “action” one and state that the Creative Assembly team behind Viking: Battle for Asgard will primarily be working on this.
That said, the developer is also reported as looking to invest in a brand new studio and increase their staff numbers to 200 for this project, so there should be plenty of new blood involved too.
