Early System Shock 2 Sketches Unearthed

This article is over 14 years old and may contain outdated information

Sketches from one of Looking Glass Studios’ all-time classic titles, System Shock 2, have been unearthed by Irrational Games (founded by three former Looking Glass employees.)

The sketches (shown below) are hand-drawn and feature a mixture of character, creature and equipment studies. One of them also appears to have a large beverage stain on it.

Unfortunately, Irrational does not credit the original artist (perhaps because the sketchbook doesn’t list who it is either) but the Mobygames credits list for System Shock 2 includes several potential names. Lead artist Gareth Hinds, 2D artists Steven Kimura and Michael Swiderek or the three people credited with “additional artwork” (William Bobos, Eric Dannerhoj and Mark Lizotte) are all possible candidates.
