The ability to farm items continuously in specific areas in Dead Space 3 raised a few eyebrows this week with it being called everything from a bug to an exploit. Due to EA including a microtransaction model in the game where players who wanted items could purchase them to save time, the endless resource item supply seemed a little odd, especially considering the way in which it worked (see video below).
EA’s PR representative Jino Talens has now issued a statement to clarify that this is no bug or exploit but is in fact completely intentional and there are no plans to patch the game.
“The resource-earning mechanic in Dead Space 3 is not a glitch. We have no plans to issue a patch to change this aspect of the game. We encourage players to explore the game and discover the areas where resources respawn for free. We’ve deliberately designed Dead Space 3 to allow players to harvest resources by playing through the game. For those that wish to accumulate upgrades instantly, we have enabled an optional system for them to buy the resources at a minimal cost ($1-$3).”
The video below demonstrates why it is more than likely some sort of bug so we’re not completely buying EA’s line that this was intentional. Now that players know it’s not being patched, farm away, if you can be bothered repeating the same actions over and over again.
Thanks Gamefront.
