Dying Light Left 4 Dead

Dying Light getting Left 4 Dead 2 crossover content soon

Double the dying
This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

It’s been years since fans have heard anything from the Left 4 Dead franchise. That’s a bit odd, considering how popular Left 4 Dead 2 is. But Techland is paying attention, as it has announced that the Valve classic is coming to its own Dying Light for a crossover.

The developer confirmed the crossover on Twitter today, complete with an image showcasing a battle with rather unique weapons, including a guitar.

It teased the possibility of such a crossover a couple of days ago in an earlier tweet, saying: “We don’t want you to be left 4 dead waiting for results!” This followed the completion of a recent Deadeye’s Promise event.

Dying Light meets Left 4 Dead 2 and everyone will die

There aren’t any further details about the event just yet. But considering that Halloween is just around the corner, it wouldn’t be a shocker if something began sometime next week or sooner. After all, Left 4 Dead 2 is a venerated title in the gaming community and perfectly themed with the spooky day in mind.

As far as what Techland could do with the event, there are a number of things. Character skins based on popular Left 4 Dead stars might be included. Familiar weapons and items (health packs?) might enter the fold. Or there may be a themed event featuring a classic zombie type or two. It could go in a number of directions.

We’ve reached out to Techland for more information, but there’s no response yet. Still, it’s great to see them continue to support the original game, even with Dying Light 2 set to release next year. The original game is just over five years old, after all.

We’ll see what Techland has in store once the event unfolds in just a few days. In the meantime… watch out for exploding zombies! Or zombies in general.
