Dying Light 2 City Alignment – Survivors and Peacekeeper faction rewards

Let’s discuss the reward tiers that you can obtain should you assign multiple facilities to the Survivors or Peacekeepers in Dying Light 2. I’ll also add some tidbits as to whether these helped me in the long run or not.

Survivor faction rewards

Rank/Facilities Assigned Reward/Improvement Effect Notes
1 Ziplines More ziplines are placed in zones that Survivors control. There are already a lot of these by default.
2 Airbags More airbags are placed in these zones. These look like yellow circles on the ground, ramps, or vehicles. You can run up to them and press the spacebar to do a high jump. These aren’t as plentiful, but you won’t need them often once you obtain more Parkour Skills, and Nightrunner Tools like the Grappling Hook and Paraglider.
3 Landing Bags These are yellow cylindrical objects on rooftops. If you jump onto these, they’ll break your fall as you drop. These, too, won’t be as integral in the long run. You can either use the Paraglider when falling down, or do a safe landing (assuming you’re not too high up).
4 Survivor Revival If you die in a zone controlled by the Survivors, there will be an option that lets an NPC help you get back on your feet. This provides minimal aid since there are plenty of safe zones in each region.
5 Air Vents More air vents that increase Paraglider maneuverability are added in Survivor-controlled zones. There really are quite a lot of these already. Also, by the time you fully upgrade the Paraglider, you probably won’t need to search for air vent boosts often.
6 Upgraded Airbags Airbags let you jump higher than before. Totally unnecessary.
7 Two-Way Ziplines There are ziplines that let you travel upward. This is the only one that seems the most unique out of the bunch, given that all ziplines just let you travel downward. This upgrade can save you a bit of time, but, again, the Paraglider is always there. Moreover, it’s the last upgrade in the set, so it’s going to be a while before you can make use of it.

I feel as though I made the mistake of assigning a couple of Dying Light 2 facilities to the Survivors. I honestly thought that these would significantly improve exploration and traversal. Unfortunately, I soon realized that some of the earlier upgrades were already plentiful in The City (by default). By the time I unlocked Survivor Revival, I was thoroughly disappointed. Since it was a point in time when I was tagging safe zones and points of interest for my guides, I just respawned normally. Lastly, with a fully upgraded Paraglider, exploration challenges are trivialized that you won’t need any of these perks.

1 Car Traps Car traps lure infected before exploding. You’ll get a button prompt when you’re near certain cars that can explode. They’re often found near Military Convoys and Evacuation Convoys, allowing you to clear part of those areas.
2 Razor Cannons Certain spots on the map will have Razor Cannons that allow you to mow down the horde. These are quite fun to use… if you can find them while you’re being chased at night.
3 Electrical Traps These will electrocute enemies that pass through an area. Similar to the above, I found it hard to find these when I actually needed them.
4 Crossbow Pack Gives you the semi-automatic PK Crossbow, as well as all the recipes for bolts. This is primarily the reason why you should go with the Peacekeepers in Dying Light 2. Considering that the only other ranged weapon is the bow, this one shoots faster and can annihilate targets with ease. Just ask those poor Revenants in GRE Anomaly areas.
5 Molotov Lanterns These can be hit with a projectile, causing them to set fire to a large area. Again, it’d be useful if you find these when you need them the most.
6 Pendulum Traps Gigantic, spiked structures will crush a bunch of hostiles. Same as above.
7 UV Traps These can damage/stun infected, while also increasing your immunity. This is great when you’re being chased at night.

To be frank, I had sided with the Survivors early on. But, surprisingly, I noticed that I had some Peacekeeper unlocks at the same time. Anyway, I would suggest focusing on the Peacekeepers until you get the Crossbow Pack. Since Dying Light 2 doesn’t have guns, a highly sought-after reward from the City Alignment is the PK Crossbow. As for the other traps, they’d surely help you in a pinch. But, if you’re not in a location that has them, or if you don’t notice them there, then they’re kind of pointless. A good idea is to scout an area so that you’re aware of the traps that litter each corner. Then, once you’re ready, you can start a Night Chase for some additional XP and infected trophies.

All right, we’re done with the City Alignment and faction rewards in Dying Light 2. Let’s discuss the actual locations themselves in the next part of our guide series.
