The Ranger can be loosely described as your party leader in The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos. This is primarily due to having a high courage stat (initiative) and several team-wide buffs. Here’s our Ranger skills guide to help you out.

The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: Ranger skills guide
Here are some of the active and passive skills I selected for the Ranger during The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk‘s campaign. Choose wisely due to the limited number of skill points and the level 10 cap.
Active skills:
Tier | Skill | Effect | Additional Notes |
I | First Aid | +35 HP healed; tier II upgrade to remove the knocked down and stunned status effects | This is a very useful skill to have since it allows the Ranger to have additional healing capabilities. |
I | Tactic: Defensive Maneuver | +10 parry and dodge (team-wide); Tier II upgrade for +20 magical/physical resistance | This will become your go-to buff, and likely the first skill you pop when the Ranger has his turn. The defensive bonuses are amazing. |
II | Loubet’s Anticipation | +1 movement; tier III and IV upgrades to increase precision | This is only an optional skill if you aren’t enticed by others. This is primarily a replacement for Defensive Maneuver if you want to play more aggressively. |
III | Hurtful Blow | Melee and taunt the enemy to make it face the Ranger | This is also another optional skill, though it can be useful. I use it in conjunction with the Thief’s Sneaky Strike (backstab). |
III | Shield Bash | Does low damage but stuns the enemy | Any skill that improves crowd control (CC) is always good in my book. |
Note: I originally kept using Tactic: Suppressing Fire. However, as mentioned in our official review, I encountered bugs related to having multiple characters on overwatch which meant the skill (and overwatch boons) weren’t that helpful.
Passive skills:
Tier | Skill | Effect | Additional Notes |
I | The Leader Goes Down Last | Allows the Ranger to wear heavy leather armor | A useful passive so you can equip better gear. |
I | Spontaneous Blood Surge | +4 CRG when adjacent to the Elf | Lets the Ranger and Elf stand next to each other and take their turns a lot earlier than everyone else. |
II | Shield Expert | Allows the Ranger to equip a shield; increases parry | Increases your defensive capabilities. |
II | Ranger of Good | Regular melee attacks stun an enemy if they’re at full health | Walk up to an enemy, then slash and stun them. |
IV | The Strength of a Leader | +2/4 STR | It’s great to boost your physical damage. |
