He’s best known for being in 3D and for taking an awfully long time to release (you can make up your own terrible sex joke there), but Duke Nukem’s origins lie in the realm of 2D side-scrolling shooters. The first two games were resolutely 2D, and are now available on PC and Mac through GoG.com.
Priced at $6.00 USD for the pair, Duke Nukem 1 and Duke Nukem 2 will now run on your modern desktop. In the first game, you’re on a mission to stop Dr. Proton and his techbot army (by shooting them), while in the second you’ve been abducted by aliens and have to escape their prison world (by shooting them). Ahh, the days of simple videogame plots.
If that sounds like a lark, head over to GoG to grab them. As ever with GoG, these titles will be DRM-free.
